An exoskeleton with the color as black as the night. Wait, black is not really a color but I know you get what I mean. Its back showed two pairs of wings that are currently leaning sideways. On its head is a long horn with two tips which are glistening under the artificial light of the place.
No matter what world I'm in, there's no way I wouldn't recognize this creature. It's a stag beetle, something my dad usually lets us see whenever we visit a forest area when me and my siblings were children. However, this one's a little too big for a normal beetle. It's probably the size of an adult man or even more. The only problem is that it's a little bit too skinny but I shouldn't be worrying about that right now.
The beetle is currently hovering near the hole in the ceiling which it probably used to arrive at this place.
Suddenly, in a shrill voice that seems to be piercing the world, it starts speaking. "This Demon King candidate is mine!"
After that, it suddenly lunges into my direction with great speed and leaves a blurry image on its wake. When it collides with barrier however it's movements stops. I can't help but take a few steps back from the aftereffects of the impact between the two.
At the site where it collided with the barrier, a small crack can now be seeen. Strong! I wasn't even able to leave a mark on that thing but it could actually...
"Captain Sister! Quickly take down that insect. The Demon King Crown's jewel is mine!" Erician is now grabbing the female fairy which just arrived with craze in his frantic face.
So this is actually this brat's aim. When he said that people would go crazy for the pendant granpda gave me, I never really imagined he would be one of those people. But let's see how will he fare against this huge beetle. I just hope that this newcomer fairy and the beetle will accidentally kill themselves while coincidentally freeing me from this barrier.
While I'm in the middle of my wishful thinking, it seems that 'captain sister' is already making her move. The sword held by her right hand moves and slashes at the air. A sharp arc of white energy appears from the place where she slashed and heads towards the huge beetle. However, she doesn't stop at this. Instead, she continues to fire attacks without giving the enemy a breathing time.
This is the first time I've seen these kinds of attacks. It doesn't seem to be her ability but from her sword instead. After all, Erician told me that fairies can only use the wind element. Well, that's assuming the kid didn't lie to me.
Just as the bright arcs of energy light are about to arrive at their destination, the horn of the beetle suddenly emits sparks of white lightning. They quickly start gathering until they formed the shape of ball. The ball then leaves the horn and flies towards the energy slashes.
Like eggs thrown to a boulder, each energy slash starts breaking apart the moment they come in contact with the ball of lightning. As for the lightning ball, it doesn't face any real form of resistance as it heads towards the female fairy and without suspense, the two collide.
The female fairy screams from pain as the lightning ball sends life-threatening damages to her body. It lasts for a few seconds before she falls to the ground with multiple scary burns on her body. She lies there unmoving. I hope she's gone for good.
Erician who is standing next to her quickly tries to run but a stray strand of lightning enters his body and sends him sliding on the floor. The crown on his head falls off and is thrown away from his hand's reach.
"Now for the jewel," The beetle speaks as if it didn't just got rid of a really strong combatant. It turns around from the others and faces me with a grunt befote it continues speaking. "To think that a lowly creature like this would get one of the four jewels of the crown. What insane luck!"
