The mermaids seems a bit laid back. They're really treating me as some kind of a weak mob and although I know I really am, I still feel a bit insulted.
One of them makes a move to point her spear to me, her eyes seems to hold no caution against me. It's my chance! A huge blob of venomous liquid leaves my mouth and rapidly flies towards the mermaid, leaving behind a faint shadow in the middle of doing so.
"It hurts!" The mermaid screams in pain and puts a hand over her face which is now starting to turn into a huge tomato. Meanwhile, screens containing a name, level and a health point bar appears right on top of her head.
Eh? So their true identities are actually Drowned Nymphs and not mermaids. Despite being mere lackeys, each one of them had levels around level ten or so. One word, dangerous!
The other Drowned Nymphs are now starting to stir from their inattentive stances as the scene of their companion writhe in pain unfold. You shouldn't underestimate people drowned fishes! I can't help the grin I've been suppressing all this time from surfacing.
"Vermin!" One of them angrily raises her spear and points it at me.
Dodge! My body moves as my mind commands it to do.
Barely, just barely. I managed to evade the sharp beam of energy headed towards my way. My body rolls away from the place where I was standing earlier and currently, I'm now surrounded by bushes of strange of plants.
In my vision, I can see the plants around me wilting. A warm feeling invades my body. The wound at my wing is now closing at a shocking speed. However, it halts right before it can totally heal. It turns out that the plants are now wilted and dry.
I gather another Venom Spit on my mouth. After aiming it to a drowned nymph who's in the middle of firing another one of those energy attacks, I quickly release it.
[Venom Spit Level 1 to Level 2]
Oh! It leveled up! Will the paralysis venom get stronger now? Let's fire one again.
Another one of the drowned nymphs screams in pain as the Venom Spit lands on her right shoulder. With that part of the body now paralzyed, she's unable to grab her spear any longer. The weapon falls into the shallow waters and creates a splash in the process.
But their health points though. The damage aren't that great. I'll probably need to fire around ten more Venom Spits in order to kill them. But I doubt they'll let me kill them so easily-
Ahh! It hurts! There's that burning feeling again. It's from my left wing this time. They actually took advantage of the moment I was distracted today attack.
My health point bar appears right next to me. It seems that my condition is getting worse. There's only about half of the red health bar left and it's still going down which is probably because my wounds are still bleeding. I have to get out of this place, quick!
Tsk! The leader's actually coming back? She must have heard the commotion. Her tail moves like a snake as she swims rapidly in the water with an obvious infuriated look in her eyes.
I still can't fly now. Gotta run first and heal myself before flying. My feet are small and not suitable for running on ground but I can't complain right now. There were a few mosses and plants along the way but they're not enough to fully heal my wounds.
"You can't escape!" The leader's familiar rough voice sounds out from behind me.
The sound of the ground being pierced reaches me. I turn my head to look around and it was actually the leader's spear. It's now lodged in. The ground almost one meter deep. How's strong is her throwing power? It's probably because of the spear, right?
"Don't let him get away!" Her voice echoes out in this underground world. Following her voice, the sounds of slithering soon followed.
Huh? T-they actually surrounded me! But they weren't that fast before. I look behind me and the drowned nymphs from before are actually still behind me. Then, this must mean that these guys are actually newcomers.
What should I do? What should I do? I don't want to die yet. My eyes starts to feel hot and watery. I'm actually about to cry? Ugh!
The leader is now approaching us with a calm look on her face. I look each into their eyes and all I can see is the fact that they now see me as a dead creature. Somehow, I can feel a burning feeling on my chest, making me short of breath. I-I can't believe this. Am I actually still in the mood to feel angry despite my situation?
My gazes makes their way into the leader drowned nymph's eyes. I want to kill her! It's all because of her that I'm feeling like this. I hate her! I hate her! Just die!
Should I get close to her and use scratch before spitting out venom or spit venom first before jumping? Hmm... What should I do? Eh?
A scorching feeling starts spreading from my chest and into every corner of my body like a raging river. After that, a familiar symbol appears from chest. It has a glaring red color with the image of a crown with four jewels inlaid on its body. It's that symbol from the pendant!
"The seal of royalty!" A horrified scream appears out of nowhere.
I turn my head to find where it came from. It's actually the drowned nymphs' leader who just arrived.
Does she know about this symbol?
There is no response to my question but it's not really needed because based on her expression, I can already tell what the answer is.
[AUTHOR'S NOTE]
I think that this will probably be a long story based on the current pace.
