A four legged creature made of sand. Its eyes are incredibly small as a hollow mouth occupied most of the space on its head. The mouth is emitting a mist of psyche energy each time it opens. The creature resembles a lion a lot but probably twice as big. I can't really see a crystallized form of psyche energy on its chest but I have a feeling this guy is also a spectre.

My right elbow moves to lightly nudge Maine before I begin to speak to her. "Hey, what's that thing?"

"Huh? Oh! Let's see," Maine mutters as she narrows her eyes. After that, while still concentrating her gaze towards the newcomer, she resumes speaking. "It's a Spirit Eater. A level sixty-six spectre. It feeds off other creatures' psyche energy. Its other stats are somewhat low but its psyche stat is five."

"That strong?" I can't help but raise my eyebrows.

My psyche stat has only two points but my power is already enough to render others helpless in terms of psyche energy attacks and this guy actually has more than double of what I have.

A roar suddenly leaves the Spirit Eater's mouth. Just the roar alone I'd enough to send a tickling feeling in my head. The Spirit Eater is now charging towards us with its four limbs gracefully moving across the sand. It then leaps into the air and produces a cloud of psyche energy beneath its feet which then enables it to run in the air.

"Tsk! We'll leave right-!" Before I can even finish uttering what I have to say, a concentrated beam of glowing white psyche energy flashes and reaches us.

So fast! The attack happened so quickly that only thing I'm able to do is erect a shield of psyche energy to block the attack. The attack collides with the shield and causes the latter to deform. Not long after, the shield evaporates into a white mist. The psyche energy beam from the Spirit Eater is already weakened by my shield but as it lands on my body, my mind is instantly sent reeling.

Wind scrubs against my skin as I can feel myself falling to the ground. I tried moving my feet but it seems as if the connection between my body and brain was interrupted so I'm having a hard time doing so.

"Ugh!" A groan escapes my mouth as pain akin to needles stabbing my head hits me. My eyes unconsciously closes and I can't but take a few steps back.

"Mikhail!" Maine's call reaches my ears.

Despite the incredible pain inside my head, I force myself to open my eyes and the sight of the Spirit Eater already about to close in on us enters my sight. A rough groan once again leaves my mouth as I make my feet which I can barely control right now jump to the side.

The Spirit Eater lands on the spot where I originally stood. Meanwhile, I'm still moving around the place, putting to use my forty points of agility to move further away. While doing so, I can't help but look at Maine.

The girl looks absolutely unhurt and fine as if the attack from the Spirit Eater just now did not happen. There's only intense nervousness and fear in her face probably because of the current situation. Behind her is two meter wide phantom of an elegantly designed silver mirror. I don't need to ask anything to know that it's the True Mirror doing its job, protecting the mind of its host.

"Hmph!" I can't help but snort while looking at this scene.

With a short movement of my right forefinger, the metallic arm connected to my waist changes direction and faces the incoming Spirit Eater who seems to be readying another attack. After I did this, Maine's eyes widens before she turns around to face me with an angry look.

"Traitor! Let me go! I warned you and this is how you repay me?" She threatens me with a punch but the distance between us makes it hard for her to reach me.
