I quickly stood, ignoring the pain my ankle was causing me and jogged over to Erwin. He quickly noticed the rapid sounds of my footsteps, tearing his attention away from the lifts that were quickly being set up by the ledge of the wall.
"Erwin..." My voice left sounding hoarse and quiet as I drew my gaze to his eyes that were quickly taken aback as he scanned the landscape behind me figure. His gaze serious, masking his worry when spotting the many rows of soldiers that were lying on the ground unconscious. Including some of his best that he would usually call first for any order.
"Commander Erwin, you made it!" Molbit elated, making his way over as a smile of pure relief washed upon his features. Erwin only nodded, never dwelling too much in his emotions as he tried to come up with another plan of action.
"Any changes in the situation?" Erwin asked, trying to fill in the gaps within the conversation as he drew his gaze back towards Molbit and I.
"No sir." Molbit answered, the shrill in his voice fading as the situation seemed to hit him. The sky had changed, the sun high in the sky now without a cloud hovering above--showcasing the large amount of time that had passed since he'd passed out.
"Good. Lower the lifts!" Erwin ordered, however, my attention was quickly stolen as I heard a sharp gasp leave Molbit's mouth. I flicked my eyes over, watching as he tilted away from something on the floor.
"H-Hange-san!" He shrieked, shooting his gaze towards the ground. I quickly did the same, drawing my gaze to the floor and spotting Hange out from her prior position, her body still on the ground as she firmly held onto Molbit's ankle.
"Molbit...G-Gimme a map." She requested, her voice and body trembling as she spoke. Her neck looked stiff and I could see the strain just keeping her head off the floor was causing her body as her face tightly scrunched up.
"Hange! What the hell?!" I exclaimed, my eyes widened as I noticed how far she'd dragged her body across the top of the wall to reach us. I quickly bent down, about to help her up, however, I was quickly stopped as she moved again, raising her hand up and slightly pushing my hand away from her.
"No, don't help me up. I'm not going anywhere, I just need...a map." She rejected, her voice straining as she pushed herself to lift her head a bit further. I felt my heart slip into my throat, seeing her in such a state was rare, although she was reckless, she never often got injured to the point that she could've even take a step, or refuse treatment.
"Okay..." I replied, shifting me gaze to the side. "Molbit, go find a map of the terrain inside the south portion of Wall Maria." I ordered, not sparing a single glance towards him.
"Hai!" He quickly replied. His footsteps quickly trailed away as he ventured off elsewhere in search for a map.
"How are you feeling?" Hange asked, causing me to draw my gaze towards her. Her eyes were filled with a slight sorrow, while a small smile pulled at the corners of her lips as she gazed off towards the horizon.
"I'm managing--you--on the other hand need to worry about yourself. Why didn't you just call out for us instead of dragging yourself across the wall? You body is already in bad shape." I nagged, returning her gaze with one that of a mother's. A breathy laugh left her mouth as she turned her head back towards me.
"I knew you would say that, but I did what my body told me to do." She replied, a brighter smile growing on her face as she carried on. I couldn't help but let a smile drift onto my lips as well.
"That's our Hange for you, courageous, intelligent, obsessed with Titans, but reckless and unmaintained when it comes to her body." I let a giggle slide from my mouth, and I could see her smile still on her face as she gazed at me. Although, they were quickly clouded with disappointment as the seriousness of the moment quickly stole the lighthearted comments we'd made.
