After hours had passed and we returned back to the scouts base, defeated and worn out. Countless of lives were lost today and we gained nothing but ignorant, petty insults from townspeople as we returned empty handed. If their reactions were this bad, I can't wait to see how the Military Police and Government are going to act after hearing the news. Not to mention, the debate we're going to have over custody over Eren, good--
"Ouch--" I winced, quickly drawing my gaze up to spot Levi's eyes fixated on mine. He slightly drew his away from my arm, delicately holding a pair or tweezers with a red stained cotton ball away from my previous injury on my arm.
"Stop thinking about it, you're frying you brain even more than it already is." Levi remarked before quickly going back to tending to my cuts. A sigh drop from my mouth in slight disappointment.
He saw right through me again, always being able to read me like a book. I lowered my head slightly, however, not a second had passed before I felt a finger push my forehead, causing me to lift my gaze back up at Levi. Without even saying anything, I knew he wanted me to really stop worrying about these things and just focus on what's happening right now. He drew his hand back to my injury, shooting me a small glance to help calm my head.
"I know...Ah--" I yelped, curling my fingers into the sheets of my bed as he carefully dabbed the large cotton ball dipped in alcohol over the large cut on my arm. The stinging sensation was one I was never fond of, which is why I hated medical treatment myself. I would always half-ass when applying alcohol and would stick to the medical creams or other treatments since it hurt so much.
I quickly bit my lip, my face slightly scrunching up due to the pain as my toes curled. "Levi! It hurts!" I whined, taking my hand away from the sheets and grabbing his wrist, gently pulling his hand away from my arm. I could still feel the tingling sensation hanging onto the open wound and a small pout sat on my lips as I saw bubbles and blood begin trickling down my arm.
"Move your hand, you always do this. You need this to disinfect it, or else it's going to get infected." He replied, drawing his wrist out from my hold and was about to continue, however, I quickly leaned back, causing Levi to lift himself up--sitting straight as he tilted his head back a bit, annoyed at my gesture.
"I can always just apply some cream to it." I suggested, uncoiling my fingers around his wrist as I lower my arm back down onto the bed.
"No." He strictly ordered, causing a pout to pull on my lips. "Tch, for someone that has taken down countless Titans, you can't even take being medically treated, wimp."
"You act like you're any different Mr. Humanities strongest soldier." I shot back.
"Drop it." He quickly replied, glaring at me. A breathy laugh dropped from my lips as I pushed a piece of hair that had fallen out behind my ear.
"Hai, hai." I pretty much breathed out, but my smile fell as I felt a suffocating emotion well up in my chest. Remorse and guilt flooding my veins and arteries, causing a shaky breath to leave my mouth. "I'm sorry...I-I didn't know that would happen today...to our squad." I solemnly announced, my voice caving in and growing into a mumble as I finished my statement.
"Don't apologize, it won't do anything for them, or you." Levi quickly replied, causing my to slightly drop my head. "What's happened, happened. There's no going back now." Levi continued, his words harsh, but to me, I knew that he was trying to reassure my deep feelings of guilt.
"I..." I gulped, thinking what to say next. My mind was flooded with countless things I wanted to say, ask, confess...but when I opened my mouth, something unexpected left my tongue. "Did you like Petra?" I asked, but quickly regretted as my eyes widened and I felt my heart rate increase as Levi's expression was a bit shocked as well.
