Levi and I made our way across the district using the rooftops of the streets, taking out any titans that we came across effortlessly. Although we knew it would waste more gas to take down straggling Titans, it was better than leaving them around for another person to become food for these disgusting creatures. Even with the Titans in the way, we kept a steady pace as we maneuvered towards the middle of town. I couldn't see what was happening, but even from across the district, I noticed that most of the titans we were headed that way, too. They barely even noticed Levi and I that were flying right above their heads before we quickly put an end to them. What was going on?
There must've been something big happening at the supply building that we weren't filled in on.
"Levi, I'm going to be running low on gas soon, we might need to just book it and forget about these titans." I yelled out, landing on a nearby roof. Kneeling, I quickly used my knuckle to tap on the top of my gas tanks. A light, and airy sound reverberating from them and to make sure I heard it correctly, I brought my fingers up and flicked the gas tanks receiving a louder, higher hollow sound follow. Shit. I was running extremely low, at this rate, I wasn't going to reach the supply building even if we ignored all the titans. Forget that, I probably won't even make it more than 20 meters. I then heard Levi land in front of me, to which my eyes lifted towards his. We held eye contact for a few seconds, before Levi broke it as gaze shifted towards my equipment and by the look on his face, he already knew about my gas situation.
"How much do you have left?" Levi asked, taking a few steps towards me. A sigh ran heavy though my lips, knowing well enough that'd he already knew how much gas I had left so there was no use lying or making an excuse. My hands fell to my sides, shaking my head in disapproval as I slightly shifted.
"You go ahead, I'm not going to make it to the supply building. I'll stay here and conserve the last of my gas I have for any titans that come by." I relayed, lifting myself up from the ground as tried to reassure him with a smile. However, his brows furrowed as a unsatisfied look encompassed his features.
"I'm not going to leave you here when you're low on gas and only have two blades left. I don't know if your brain's working, but that gigantic hole in the wall isn't closing up anytime soon. Just use the rest of you're gas until you're out and I'll carry you the rest of the way. We can restock our supplies when we reach the building."
As he finished I quickly ran my fingers over the cold empty slots until I'd felt the singular pair of blades I had left on the last row--causing me to grimace. He was right, with only two blades and the number of Titans that were lingering around the streets of the Capitol my chances of survival were low. However, his plan wasn't exactly foolproof either--both of our courses of action leaving us with risks too large to take with no one to back us up.
"If you end up doing that, you're not going to make it the supply building either, and I don't know if you remember, but I am a grown woman. Not that small, skinny Y/N from years ago. Carrying me is only going to make you use more gas and handicap you if a Titan approaches us." I argued, taking a few steps forwards as I slightly raised my voice to which caused Levi's gaze to darken--his features now withered with anger as he took another step towards me. He didn't even blink as I complained and shot him a glare of my own--knowing I'd already gone beyond testing the boundaries of his anger.
"And you think leaving you here with practically nothing is any better? At least we'll be together and will find some way to manage." Levi argued. I narrowed my eyes as my glare intensified. I wasn't going to allow him to put himself in danger because of me, because that was exactly the kind of person he was. If we ever got into any trouble, he would always be the first to charge in and try to save whoever was in trouble like he didn't have a life or wasn't invulnerable at all. As much as I loved that part of him--I hated it.
