Deal | Part 5

"It's proof that you're reward will be plentiful. Do you understand? Once you've completed this job, not only will you be generously compensated for your work, but you will be given the right to live above ground."

My eyes widened before darting towards Farlan and Isabel who all held the same reaction as we quickly exchanged looks. With a reward that large the job must be a big deal...not to mention dangerous. After a few seconds, our gazes then turned back towards the man in the carriage. With an offer like that, there's no way we wouldn't accept the deal...now what did he want us to do?

"There are two tasks that I want you to compete...."

It been a few days since that incident and every moment of our time has been spent preparing for the upcoming events. Now, we only had a few moments before setting out to really kick our plan into action. Levi and I had for all the equipment ready while Isabel and Farlan has just returned with the information we needed to commit to this job, seeming how they came back just fine and on time--this deal really was legit. I ran my hands over my gear one last time, checking the small knobs and screws to make sure they were tight and we fully set before heading out.

"Levi, Y/N, were ready to roll." Farlan call out from the door, standing pristine with his ODM gear on his waist. 

We both turned around and nodded at the two. It was time to head out.

We all walked into an alleyway that would lead into the nearby busy streets. A set of stairs laid there and Isabel quickly turned as we followed her down the steps.

"I've verified Jan's status. He's definitely been admitted to a top class hospital." Farlan's said over our shoulders as we continued descending down the stairs. Even though I didn't know this kid, I was glad he was safe and those bastards didn't do anything to him. We quickly reached the bottom of the stairs and Isabel and I took quick glances into the alleys.

"The man in the carriage's identity is legit, too. This job is the real deal." Farlan continued as he fed us the information he'd been gathering. Knowing that this whole operation was legit lifted a bit of nervousness off my shoulders we weren't going to get caught up in another trap again.

"We're doing this, aren't we Levi?" A hint nervousness came out of Farlan's voice as he asked. I could tell Levi was serious about taking this job and so was I, but the requirements...would be hard to achieve.

*FLASHBACK*

We turned around to walk back into the underground turning our backs to the sun, however, that man's voice again called out to us.

"Let me say one thing..."

We turned around simultaneously facing that man in the carriage.

"Whether you accept this job or not, the target will come in contact with you. In other words, there's no getting around it." His voice rang through my ears as the staircase created a small echo to his voice as it traveled down the staircase.

We quickly walk around the alleyways and small streets of the underground as the tension was staring to build up. I wanted to take this job, and I knew Levi did too. It was too good of an offer to pass up, but did we really have no choice like that man said...someone was coming after us, and today was the day.
