"I love you Levi."
A moment passed without a word mumbled and movement besides my finger slight running over his lips again, however, to my surprise, Levi was the first to ease the awkward silence that fell over us. He shifted in bed, his arm extending out to behind my head before pulling me closer to his chest without uttering a word. I allowed his touch to ease me in, his scent slowly filling my nose as I rested my forehead against his chest.
He didn't utter a word, embarrassment or rather fear cowering over him that kept him from saying those words back, however, I didn't need a response, the pure sound of his rapid heartbeat was enough for me to know that he felt the same. As I laid comfortably in his arms, I could feel my eyes grow drowsy again, the soft movements of his fingers combing through my hair easing my body into a state of euphoria.
"Don't fall asleep." Levi whispered, his voice low, however, still somehow carrying a light tone as he continued running his fingers through my hair.
"You're the reason why, don't blame me." I lazily responded, mumbling into his shirt that caused his body to tense slightly. I slightly shifted, trying to wake my heavy body that felt paralyzed in his embrace.
"Don't move so much." He complained again, pushing my head into his chest again before resuming his therapeutic magic touch again. A soft chuckle escaped my lips as I eased into his chest.
"You don't want me to sleep, but you don't want to move either you stubborn man. You can just tell me what you want, ya know." I mused, slightly moving me head so I could get a better look at his face. He seemed to notice my movement, drawing his eyes away from mine quickly as our gazes met.
"Just stay awake, I can't tell if I'm dreaming or not, so I need time to make sure this is real." He replied, a red hue stretching across his face that even tainted his ears. A breathy laugh fell from my lips as I reached my arms out, cupping his face and bringing his eyes to finally meet mine.
"You're not dreaming. And I can prove it."
A chuckle left my mouth as I harshly pinched both of his cheeks, a cheeky smile quickly rising on my lips as I noticed his face contort in discomfort. He quickly brought both of his hands away from me and tightly held my wrists.
"Tch, way to ruin the moment brat." He cursed, quickly letting go of his hold on my wrists and harshly flicking my forehead. A small squeak escaped from my throat as I quickly put both my hands over my forehead, rubbing slightly awaiting for the pain to quickly disappear.
"Aside from that, is Erwin back?" I asked, putting a bit of distance between us so I could get a better look at his face. He noticed my shift, flicking his gaze down slightly before leaving the distance between us be.
"He's injured." He blandly replied, his vague answer causing my eyes to widen as I flinched, creating a bit more distance between us as I perked my head off from his arm.
"What?! How injured?" My voice raised slightly, earning a sigh from Levi as he shut his eyes, reaching his arm out and lowering me back down onto his arm and pulling me a bit closer to his chest.
"His came back with his arm gone...fucking gone." The last words leaving his mouth in an angry whisper. "It's all because of me, if I were there, I could've prevented that. Not to mention, Yeager's girlfriend came back with her ribs broken too--and you too, you're ankle's almost as bad as my leg. Tch...this is a mess."
Hearing his words put a dent in my heart...they sounded harsh, but all that hatred and guilt wasn't directed towards others, rather, he was blaming himself. I acted quickly, creating distance between us before reaching out and pulling his face towards mine--connecting our foreheads to help comfort Levi.
