It was the morning of the following day and everyone was woken at before the sun had even risen for training. We were assigned different sections, Isabel training with horse riding and Farlan was with the other soldiers doing hand to hand combat. Meanwhile, Levi and I were assigned to attack and practice eliminating titans, or rather, these wood cutouts of titans.

I was excited to finally be able to use the ODM gear again. I missed the feeling of flying through the air and I bet it would feel 100 times better doing it out here on the surface. This is what I dreamed of, being able to flying carelessly like a bird. My heart was racing as I pulled out my blades, and I turned to my right to see Levi do the same, but he when he pulled it out he flipped his left blade it so it was facing downwards while he held the other one correctly. It was Levi's style and it suited him perfectly.

"Who the hell do you think you're doing that? Those blades weren't designed to be held like that. Do you want to die the moment you step out of the walls?" I slightly turn my head to the side, annoyed at Flagon's ignorant remarks, however, shook it off as I turned to face the front. Levi didn't seem phased either as he turned away from Flagon and took a few steps before spouting out a comeback.

"You should ask yourself the same question." Levi replied and took a few more steps before reaching the foot of the forest.

"What did you say?!" Flagon's arms dropped from bring crossed over his chest. His temper quick to explode at anything Levi had to say. A smirk lifted on my lips, seems like he knew about our capabilities with the way he kept reacting to Levi. Erwin must've told him about how they found us in the underground city.

"All I have to do is slice the nape of the of a titan's neck right? If that's it, I'll do it my way." Levi remarked as he turned towards the superiors behind us.

Flagon was annoyed, but chose not to fight with Levi as it wouldn't lead anywhere but trouble. However, his endless ranting hadn't stopped yet, as he shot his gaze towards me.

"And you. I don't know the what length of your abilities are but I better not find you slacking off later--and wipe that smirk of your face. I'm getting tired of your constant chuckling. This isn't a place for thieves like you to play around." Flagon's warnings coming off as dry and pathetic, however, still irked me a bit. I stood, sticking the tips of my blades into the ground before making my way towards Flagon who quickly placed one of his hands over the handle of one of his blades.

He would really knife down another soldier who's unarmed after running his own mouth? What a coward.

"You've got quite the mouth for someone who's sitting rather than training. Maybe that's the reason why us thieves were assigned to you and not Erwin. " I remark, my eyes watchful of his  every movement, specifically his hands as they quickly tightened over the handles for a second. I felt my throat slightly close up, however, he quickly let go before regaining his composure and crossing his arms over his chest again. A glare replacing his gaze as our eyes met.

"Get to training thief."

I turn, a sigh running through my nose before grabbing the two blades stuck to the floor before heading off towards Levi who was already in position to begin. I meet up with him and we give each other a nod before taking off into the forest together.

Levi was swift and faster than me, however, I did my best with keeping a steady pace with him. I was around 10 meters away and navigating my way through the forest looking for the presumed titan dummies to pop up. It was then I heard a loud creaking sound and saw a large dummy shoot up from below me. I quickly hooked behind me and pulled away from the Titan before landing on the tree behind me. My eyes widened as I saw the dummy sway and lean towards me. I swiftly jumped up avoiding its hand and attached my hook to the concrete slate on the nape.
