We immediately began picking up our pace, moving as fast as we could towards the towers. I knew this feeling...so which one of them has transformed? The Armored Titan? The Colossal? Another Titan shifter we don't know about...
The sun was beginning to rise and daylight broke as the sky grew with a yellow hue. As the sun's rays ran across the sky, I could clearly see the tower from afar as we rode up the hill towards it. My eyes caught a hoard of Titans surrounding the single tower that was still standing. Which was awfully unsettling.
Daylight had broke not long ago, and from the looks of it the whole castle had fallen besides that one tower, along with a massive amount of steam rising that was rising from the ground could only instill one thought...the tower had to had been attacked during night.
There had to be survivors on that tower. Hopefully Mike, Nanaba and her squad is still there defending it.
Everyone seemed to be surprised to see a swarm of Titans together scanned through the swarm of Titans, desperately looking for any signs of the an abnormal. To my surprise, I watched as a smaller, longer armed Titan was hanging onto the sides of the tower, tearing the bricks out from the base and chucking them towards the titans below.
"That's..." Eren whispered out as he watched the scene unfold in front of him. Pure shock and dismay encompassing his features as a shaky breathe fell from his gaped mouth.
"Another Titan shifter." I whispered under my breath, keeping my comment to myself as we rode up towards the castle ruins. My breath slightly hitched as I spotted a few people standing on top of the broken tower.
They had to be the recruits as I spotted they were wearing regular clothing, but I shot my gaze around the area again looking for any soldiers that maybe were still trying to shot down the mass of titans.
Despair sunk into my chest as I scanned over the area once again, spotting no one besides the recruits standing atop of the tower. Nanaba, her squad, and Mike must've not made it while trying to protect the kids...I slowly swallowed a lump that had built up in my throat, feeling the familiar feeling of loss send goosebumps trailing over my arms and legs.
They died protecting these kids, now I was going to make sure this sacrifices weren't in vain. As we approached the hill, my vision of the tower began to become obscured by the steep hill.
Although, i knew that if that same Titan from before continued to pull out any more bricks from the base of the tower, sooner or or later it was going to collapse. As if on cue, I heard a large crack, I quickly drew my gaze upwards, spotting the top of the tower leaning over towards the hoard of titans below. Smoke and debris picking up as the tower slowly fell and landed atop of the many Titans.
"Everyone, switch to ODM gear!" I order as carefully stood up on my horse, balancing myself before pulling out my blade and jumped. I quickly shot my hooks over into a nearby tree, using the surrounding area to maneuver over towards the survivors. I was quick to move, being efficient with my gas as I headed over to the fallen tower. As I entered the scene, my eyes were immediately drawn towards the few survivors that were standing atop of the remains of the fallen tower.
Surprisingly, I caught a young girl, around my height with golden blonde hair walking towards the Titan that I'd spotted earlier who had fought off the hoard of Titans.
That must've been Christa, judging from the way Eren and the others had described her to look. Suddenly, as I began to lower myself towards the survivors below, a cloud of dust was kicked up as large pieces of the fallen tower were blasted into the air, revealing a 5 meter titan. However, instead of heading towards the survivors, it went for the fallen Titan shifter instead. I was about to rush towards the Titan shifter, noticing that it was lying on the floor motionless, but my eyes were then drawn to another problem that I spotted further back.
