"We'll explain it to them when we arrive near Trost then." Levi concluded, this time now allowing his eyes to drift away from the path as he spoke to me. I narrowed my eyes for a moment as I ran the plan through my head once more--knowing all in well that this plan was definitely not something that some of the others were going to agree with. However, we didn't have the luxury of having too many choices. If one thing went wrong...it was going to mean that lives were going to be lost. The question is--which side was going to be more dangerous?

The remainder of the ride continued smoothly--the only sounds accompanying us being a few concise conversations that occasionally broke through the sounds of thundering hooves. The uncomfortable tension settling within the atmosphere only continuing to grow heavier as time dragged onwards, everyone's stares since we'd left the forest glued onto the infinite horizon awaiting for the peaks of the walls to fill the empty plain of view. However, to no avail--by the time the sun's rays began dipping the sky in a warm orange--we'd reached the foot of Wall.
Peaking my gaze over my shoulder, I scanned through the faces of my team. The details of their pursed, dried lips topped with anxious gazes reflecting their trouble thoughts as their eyes bored holes into towards the top of the wall in watch for any signs of soldiers guarding the perimeter. Although...I'm sure even if they had any soldiers up there it's likely they'll let us pass knowing it'll trap us and give them a good chance to snag both Eren and Historia from us through the crowds of people.
I turned my gaze back towards the front, quickly scanning the area for any larger tree or bundle of trees that could adequately conceal our horses from any overhead patrols as we grew closer towards the walls--entering the elongated shadow casted by the sun. My eyes narrowed as I panned my vision across the empty fields, trying to distinguish the different groves surrounding the wall. As my eyes drifted towards the left side of my vision--I'd quickly spotted a slightly larger group of trees sitting by the foot of the wall. That should be a good spot.
"Head towards the group of trees there. We'll tie them up there and then gather around me so I can explain the plan." I ordered, slightly peering over my shoulder once again--awaiting the answers that would soon follow.
"Hai!" They replied in unison, their eyes momentarily darting away from the wall and towards my own--showcasing their acknowledgement towards my orders. I gave them a slight nod before turning back towards the front, my grip growing tighter on my reins as I pulled the left side of the thick fabric towards myself--directing my stallion to the batch of trees sitting in the distance.
For a moment, I closed my eyes--letting a shaky breath quietly brushing through my lips as the familiar wave of anxious doubts and tangents washed over my mind.
We needed to perform perfectly--there couldn't be a single misstep in this plan. My job was to create a plan--a plan that would ensure that we'd successfully protect Eren and Historia while also keeping casualties to a low...
"Don't be nervous, you'll fuck up." Levi callously stated, causing a chuckle to slip from my mouth as my lids fluttered open to meet the blinding sun that'd risen higher in the sky than what I'd last saw. I narrowed my eyes slightly, my mind instinctively thinking that it would help my pupils adjust to my surroundings.
"You're right." I mused, a puff of air escaping through my nose as I turned my gaze towards Levi who's eyes had already been fixated my direction. As our eyes met, it was like I was hypnotized, my heart beginning to race as a warm feeling encompassed my cheeks. The muted rays of light that'd climbed over the tops of the walls illuminating his slightly paler skin which now had a golden glow under the warm sun. The obscured beams of light even radiant enough to emphasis the cool blue color hidden under his short set of lashes which perfectly complimented the rest of his sharper features.
