"Is everyone clear?" Hange's voice was the first thing I heard as I faded back into reality. I quickly turned towards the sound of her voice, spotting her and Molbit making their way towards us. Connie quickly stood up as he heard Hange's voice, instilling that not much time has passed in the real world since I was dragged away--ultimately allowing a shot of relief to calm my state of mind. I'd won...
"We'll deal with Ymir later, and Conny...I'll arrange for a Scout squad to investigate your village later. For the time being, I want you to focus on the mission to fix the wall. Got it?" Hange asked as she walked up to Conny and laid her hand on his shoulder offering a bit of reassurance.
"Hai!" He replied quickly, straightening his posture slightly as he replied. Hange the took her hand off of his shoulder and took a few steps towards the ledge of the wall.
"Still...I expected this place to be swarming with Titans." Hange remarked, drawing her gaze across the vast amount of empty land that laid before our eyes. Suddenly, I heard the sounds of hooves approach from our left. I drew my attention to the ground below us, spotting a group of soldiers riding through. They must be the Garrison Advanced Squad, but...what were they doing here? Had they not searched here for a hole yet? They certainly had over 12 hours to do so prior and when they found a hole would report it to the officials and us, but the seemed surprised when the spotted us on top of the wall. So, if they were here now...did they not find a hole at all?
"Hannes?" Mikasa whispered under her breath as she drew her gaze towards the group down below, drawing the attention of the other recruits to the group of soldiers down below.
"It's the Garrison Advanced Squad, maybe the found the hole and came to report it." Connie speculated, however, I was skeptical of his theory. The officials would've known before us and sent more soldiers out towards the hole already, including the people in this group. And noticing how large the squad was, it wasn't likely that his theory was correct.
"No..." I replied, keeping my eyes peeled on the men as they stopped right under us, taking hold of their stallions as a single blond headed man began scaling up the walls.
"Heichou? What do you mean by "no"?" Sasha asked, tilting a bit forward so she could see me. Hange also seemed intrigued and raised a brow as she tuned into the conversation.
"I'm not completely sure, but...I don't think there is a hole." I answered, my tone flat and unwavering as I answered.
"But that would make no sense. There were clearly Titans in Wall Rose that attacked us the abandoned castle earlier, you even helped take some of them down. Not to mention, Reiner was bit by one and Ymir even transformed to help protect everyone. Without the walls falling, how could they have gotten in?" Armin quickly intervened, spewed out questions that all contradicted my argument. However, I didn't let it waver my claim, something was just off, and I couldn't take my mind off of it.
"Even though all of the evidence is going against me, there are just too many things that don't add up." I lifted my gaze towards Armin who held a confused, yet intrigued façade as he gazed at me. "When we were riding towards the south end of Wall Rose, not a single Titan was in sight, however, I noticed something as soon as we reached to tower. There were masses of Titan remains there that we didn't kill, and judging by the large cloud of steam that I saw rising, it would mean that Nanaba and her squad took down most of them. But...that would mean that these Titans were active at night, which contradicts the experiments Hange had conducted."
"That's true. From the data we have collected from the experiments we conducted on Sonny and Bean, it showed that Titans aren't active the night." Hange confirmed, backing my claims up.
