Year 850 | Part 10

Thank god...

Those were the only words that ran through my mind before Levi's hand covered my left ear and turned my head so my other ear was against his chest before raising his hand up into the air and quickly firing off the red flare.

A few seconds later I heard the thundering sounds of hooves in the distance and I forcefully lifted myself off of Levi's shoulder. I couldn't be seen like this...I need to get up. 

"Help me stand." I let out in a raspy whisper.

I didn't hear Levi respond, but soon after, I felt his arms carefully wrap under my bicep and the other around my waist. I slowly tried to stand even against my own conscious that was pleading for me to remained seated. My legs and hips were giving me hell as I flexed my muscles under me trying to push myself further up. Levi paused for a second as my body was shaking from the pain and tiredness.

I let out shaky breath as the numbness was making me feel nauseous, but I bit my lip and I nodded to Levi. He carefully and slowly continued to lift me up onto my feet and turned me to face him. He held his hands under my upper arm and the other sitting on my waist as I tried to regain my balance. I then brought my hand up and motioned for him to let go. He brought his hands off slowly as his gaze was strictly focused on me.

I first tried to stay stable standing, which wasn't too hard. After a few seconds, I gained a bit of confidence and tried to take a step but stumbled, which cause Levi to flinch and bought his hands out around me again before I fell. Catching myself, I moved my leg backwards to prevent myself from falling as well as I let out a shaky sigh.

"Sit." Levi's voice was quiet and by that I knew I wasn't going to win against him even if I tried, so I went along with his orders. I nodded slowly before I let him lower my down onto the ground where I sat with my back against a blade. My breathing was labored as I felt my body relax a little.

A few seconds past before I heard the sounds of trotting grow near us. I lifted my head trying to look through the small clouds of mist and I saw Levi do the same.

Before I knew it, I saw Erwin and his squad appear from the fog. He gave us an empty look as he scanned the surrounding and the decapitated Titan body behind us. I didn't even want to see him and his arrogant smile right now...I dropped my gaze and looked at the floor, to which Levi did too.

It had probably been close to twenty minutes since we'd stayed here. I lifted my heavy head and saw the titan's body already evaporate away and all that was left was the bones.

The sky had cleared up too, but it held a light yellow hue. The sun was beginning to set already, and we needed to get back to the walls.

"So you two are the only ones left."

Erwin's voice rang through my ears like the deafening sound of gunshots, but I chose to ignore it. It wasn't worth my time. All my emotions were piling, and at the time, I couldn't even tell what I was feeling...sad, angry, vengeful...regret?

"How pathetic."

However, as soon as another petty insult slipped out of his mouth I felt anger surge through me and I shot my head up as a deadly glare set over my swollen eyes. I then saw Levi turn to face him with a similar look in his eyes before taking a step toward the crude man, taking his blade and fjadkfjakldfjakldjf swung his blade at Erwin, however, Erwin caught Levi's blade right before it reached his face.
