Second day of the tournament, and Karasuno's volleyboys is going against a powerhouse, Aoba Johsai. As for the volleygirls, they are also going against a powerhouse, Niiyama High School. Aoyuki had no time to chat with the volleyboys, but she did bid them good bye and wished them luck, saying that she believe in them.
"So, any intel on Niiyama?" Manami, their setter, broke the reigning silence while walking in the corridor.
The girls looked at each other. Watabe and Moe looked at each other. Manami looked to Aya, Aya looked to Aoyuki, Aoyuki looked to Michimiya, Michimiya looked to Aihara, Aihara looked to Rinko. Rinko sighed.
"Based on what I've researched, Niiyama is a powerhouse, obviously. And they have a rookie wing spiker named Amanai Kanoka." Rinko rubbed her cheek, "I think she's the player we should keep an eye on. Of course, let's not underestimate the rest."
"Amanai Kanoka it is." Watabe nodded her head, cracking her knuckles.
As the warm up started, the female crows never left their eyes on the team currently doing spiking drills, Niiyama High School.
"Who's Amanai?" Aihara asked, eyeing the spikers of the team yet she couldn't tell who Amanai Kanoka is since it looked like all of Niiyama's spikers are powerful. It's really hard to tell.
Rinko eyed the team unsurely, "I'm...not really sure."
"Aren't you the one who researched about the team?" Watabe gave Rinko a questioning look.
"Well, there was no picture attached." Rinko shrugged her shoulders.
When it's their time warming up, they could feel the lingering stares of their opponent for this round, Niiyama.
Manami raised her arms and tossed the ball towards Michimiya, the former's eyes widening after realizing that the ball was over the net.
Michimiya's eyes widened as well, and before she knew it, she slammed into the net---thankfully not getting caught in it, before landing on her feet, staggering a little but managing to stay upright and not embarrass herself even more.
The female crows' cheeks became red because of humiliation, Aoyuki's eyes narrowed into slits when she heard taunting snickers and belittling whispers, especially from the audiences.
"It's so darn obvious that the setter is nervous!"
"Maybe this is their first time competing in a tournament??"
"Why are they even here? They look weak!"
"Ahh, Niiyama's probably going to win this match."
Manami bowed a ninety degree bow towards her team, cheeks crimson red,
"I'm so sorry!"
"D-don't worry, Manami-chan." Michimiya smiled, waving a shaky hand in the air. The rest of the girls timidly nodded their heads.
Aoyuki straightened her back, clicking her tongue since an intense gaze has been looking at the back of her head for quite some time now, and it's starting to STING. Shifting her left foot to face the direction where the lingering gaze is, her now unreadable eyes saw that the source of the gaze is none other than, Niiyama's girls, looking straight at her. Some of them took a step back after seeing the look on Karasuno's libero's face.
"I'll show you." Niiyama's girls saw their opponent's libero mouthed at them.
"Captains." The referee called, Michimiya and Niiyama's #1 went.
Cracking her fingers using her thumbs while looking up at the gym lights with lightly squinted eyes, Aoyuki let out a deep exhale through her parted lips, trying to get rid of the butterflies rumbling on her stomach and shrugging her nervousness off.
