The news of Karasuno's volleyball teams losing reached the school, but of course some of the students doesn't really care since Karasuno was once a powerhouse, but not this time. As the rumours said, Karasuno is a fallen powerhouse, flightless crows, for many years, Karasuno has lost. So why does this time's tournament matter?
Filled with anguish and frustration, Aoyuki ignored the lingering concerned stares of Yamaguchi Tadashi, her classmate and friend, as the classes continued. Tadashi tried talking to her earlier when the class still hasn't started, but she just ignored him and rested her head on top of her desk until the class started. Tsukishima didn't said a thing.
Aoyuki's lifeless eyes stared dully at the ball that is falling right in front of her face, her index finger twitched yet she couldn't feel anything. She couldn't feel any determination in her veins, which is weird since once this ball landed on the floor, this match would be over and their team will lose. And losing is not on Aoyuki's vocabulary. Then why...? Why don't I want to save the ball? Aoyuki asked herself, eyes still staring at he descending ball.
Aoyuki gritted her teeth as her hand that was on top of her desk turned into a fist, crumpling the papers on her hand, but she could care less.
And I call myself a competitive girl? Funny. Yes, Aoyuki knew that she's very competitive when it comes to sports, and she hates losing. Then why didn't she saved the ball? Didn't even make an attempt to save it. She just let it fall in front of her as if the moment the ball touched the floor they wouldn't lose.
I...don't like volleyball anyway. Then why is she getting all teary eyed just by thinking that?
Maybe Sawamura-san was wrong about me having a potential in volleyball. That felt like a stab in her heart. Maybe I'm not really cutout for volleyball. Another stab.
I even got Nishinoya-senpai to teach me how to properly receive... Aoyuki swallowed the forming lump in her throat, And that Rolling Thunder, too...
The confusion and frustration in herself, the fear of disappointing and letting Nishinoya down, the impact of the lost match. The defeated state of their team. Aoyuki's lower lip started trembling as tears collected in the corners of her eyes.
Maybe, I should just quit volleyb---... Before Aoyuki could even finish that thought, she caught herself, glistening eyes were wide while staring at her fist which is crumpling the papers.
She sighed, her clenched hand loosing its grip unto the papers as she rested her forehead into her desk, closing her eyes, making a lone tear drop from her left eye fall to the desk. Thankfully the professor didn't mind the lack of Aoyuki's attention.
I'm such a mess...
The lunch came as the bell rang. Students stood up as they invited their friends or classmates to join them eating their lunches, or asking them if they want to go with them to the cafeteria.
