Aoyuki leaned into the doorframe as she catches her breath, she could feel her sweat rolling down the sides of her face, before collecting at tip of her chin and dropping down the shiny gym floor. Her white T-shirt almost clinging to her back because of it's dampened state. She weakly swiped the damp strands of hair that freed into her usual ribbon ponytail and stick to her sweaty forehead and flushed rosy cheeks.
It was loss after loss, and even though she and Nishinoya were alternating matches, it didn't stopped her from feeling the fatigue since the length of their matches doesn't last long.
And the steeped grassy hill didn't helped. Her calves were aching and she was positive that her body will drop dead any time soon.
First day in the training camp and I'm already like this...! Aoyuki straightened her posture, aware of her knees slightly shaking.
She stayed on her spot, waiting to calm her erratic heart beat and shaking knees. While doing so, she watched the remaining guys inside the gym who are still on their last match for the day.
Unlike them, these teams are actually able to get into the double digits just like their opponent, the reason why this matches are longer than them. Karasuno's last opponent for the day which sent them running up the grassy steeped hill few moments ago, Ubugawa, were on one side of the gym, resting while also watching the currently on going matches.
"Here, Aoyuki-chan." She looked over her shoulder and saw Yachi handing her a water bottle. She slowly turned so that her back was leaning into the sturdy wall and facing the blonde manager. Aoyuki took the water bottle with a shaky smile and gulped the contents of it, with Yachi watching her hesitantly.
Aoyuki felt herself became more stable than before, now that she finally got water in her system. She was about to thank Yachi when she noticed the skeptical look on her friend's face.
"Yachan? What's wrong?"
"I-it's nothing, Aoyuki-chan!" Yachi quickly shook her head, seemingly not wanting to actually say whatever's in her head.
Aoyuki gave her a scrutinizing look, remaining silent until Yachi finally gave in, the silence plus the stare making her cave in.
"I'm just worried, is all!" Aoyuki's eyebrow raised in surprise
She pushed herself from the wall, standing up straight to take a step towards Yachi. "Worried? Why are you worried?"The blonde manager started fiddling with the hem of her white shirt, shuffling her feet.
"I-it's not like I don't believe in you or anything! But, are you sure you can keep up with them?" Yachi threw a look over her shoulder, Aoyuki following her gaze which landed on the Karasuno volleyboys a few steps away from them, drinking water and talking with each other. Yachi looked back at Aoyuki, brown eyes glittering with concern. "You looked so tired earlier."
Aoyuki stared at her, before smiling softly, bringing one hand up to the smaller girl's shoulder to squeeze it reassuringly.
"I appreciate the concern, Yachan. But I don't really like the thought of sitting out while the guys do the punishment. It's unfair."
Yachi pressed her lips together, understanding Aoyuki's point. "Still..."
Aoyuki squeezed her shoulder once more, flashing Yachi a bright reassuring smile.
"I will be fine. If it makes you any better, I've experienced worse."
This got Yachi's eyes widening, which made Aoyuki giggle at her horrified expression.
