"Ao-chan, nice!" Oikawa clapped his hands, approaching the said girl with a smile.
Aoyuki swiped the sweat on her chin and faced her mentor. "Was that good, senpai?"
Oikawa made an 'okay' sign, flashing her a closed eyed smile. "Better."
"Yosh!" Aoyuki cheered, pumping her fists.
Two days. She's been going to Aoba Johsai to practice her serves right after when her club practice ends. However today, Oikawa decided to do their practice in a park somewhere in Miyagi.
And right now, she can tell that she got better at not only serving, but also doing jump serves. So far in Karasuno, it's only Kageyama who can do a jump serve safely in a match, but lately Asahi's been practicing his jump serves as well.
"You're probably as good as Tobio-chan when it comes to jump serving." Oikawa slung an arm around his kouhai, grinning smugly.
Aoyuki raised a brow, shrugging off her mentor's arm who pouted. "Not at all. Kageyama is still far better than me when it comes to that."
Oikawa turned to face her, clamping down his hands on her shoulder with a serious look. "No! You're better than him because I'm the one teaching you!"
Aoyuki can't help but to deadpan at this.
"I wish Iwaizumi-san is here. I'm pretty sure he'd smack some sense into that pretty head of yours." She then shrugged him off again.
"Ao-chan! How mean!" She rolled her eyes, looking away.
Oikawa was serious about what he said though. She might be still not on Kageyama's level, but she's close.
Seeing his kouhai, learning how to serve and jump serve in only a few days, she was bending that one saying Oikawa always believe, 'One cannot learn volleyball in one night.'
I guess in a way, Ao-chan is like Tobio-chan, Oikawa stopped Aoyuki when she was about to go after the ball that she served, saying that he'll go get it while she take a break. Aoyuki shrugged her shoulder and went to the bench where their stuffs is, Oikawa watching her back.
"Both are geniuses." He turned his back and started walking towards the direction the ball went.
It didn't took long for him to find the ball. It was just laying on the ground, several feet away from a group of kids playing tag. As he jogged towards it, he slowly came to a stop when someone else picked the ball up. Once the figure straightened up, he looked at Oikawa who went rigid.
"Y-you!"
"What's taking him so long?" Aoyuki muttered, looking at her surrounding, hoping to see her pretty mentor who was gone for a minute or two but no avail. She suddenly stood up in realization, "He better not be flirting with any girls!"
She then caught herself, crossing her arms and looking away, "N-not like I'm jealous or what--What am I even doing?" She threw her hands up in the air in exasperation, proceeding to go find Oikawa herself.
"Still, he better not kept me waiting for some girls." She started walking, "I'm going to spike a ball in his head so hard Iwaizumi-san would be proud of me." Aoyuki muttered, actually considering that idea.
It took her almost a minute to finally see the back of Oikawa's jacket. He was standing with one of his hand on his hip in a sassy way, making Aoyuki's eyebrows rose in curiosity.
"Like I told you, I'd never--"
"Oikawa-senpai."
Oikawa looked back and saw her. "Ao-chan, go back. I'll be right there, okay?" He flashed her a closed eyed smile, though Aoyuki definitely noticed the way he was rushing and the slight panic in his voice was detected.
