Aoyuki squinted her eyes the moment she and the Karasuno VBC stepped out of the gymnasium and into the hot weather of Tokyo. They all stood at the foot of the hill, with Daichi leading them. She could see Yachi and Kiyoko on top of the hill, the managers were both resting on a shade of tree where they had set up the water bottles and coolers to give the players once they have arrived at the top.

He clapped his hand, “GO!”

And just like that, they’re off the hill, probably for the hundredth time already even if today is just their second day at away games.

“It’s hot!” Aoyuki heard someone complain while running, it was then followed by,

“No saying ‘hot’!” which was suspiciously close to Tanaka’s voice.

Aoyuki groaned once she finally arrived at the flat part of the grassy hill, slouching and resting her hands on her knees as she catches her breath.

“Here, Aoyuki-chan.”

Looking up, Aoyuki was greeted with Kiyoko’s half-smiling face, holding out a water bottle. Aoyuki would have teared up if only there was still enough water in her body. So instead, she just flashed Kiyoko a shaky smile and took the bottle, wasting no time to uncap it and gulp its contents just like what everyone around her was doing.

Aoyuki walked up to the third years, dabbing the side of her face with the towel Yachi handed her.

“Sawamura-san, which team are we playing next?” Aoyuki asked once stopping beside Suga.

Daichi looked at her once putting back the cap in his bottle, “Fukurodani. Why?”

Aoyuki bristled at this, she then whipped her head to look at Nishinoya who was with Tanaka and their fellow second years. “Noya-senpai, you’re playing the next match!”

“What? Why?” Nishinoya turned to gaze at his kouhai with furrowed eyebrows, confused. Well, it was Aoyuki’s turn to play since it was Nishinoya who played the match earlier. Remember, they were alternating.

“Nothing!” the third years, as well as Nishinoya, can only watched with puzzled eyes as Aoyuki practically sprinted her way back down the hill to escape.

No way. No way that I’m gonna play with Bokuto-senpai! It’s safe to say that ever since her first night here in the away games where Kuroo immediately had her block Bokuto’s relentless and powerful spikes made Aoyuki intimidated and a little bit traumatized. She can still feel how her wrists throbbed in pain whenever she’d block his spikes.

Call me a coward, just no way.

Fukurodani: 21 l 2 l Karasuno: 17

Aoyuki watched with focused eyes as Asahi threw the ball, jumped, and served. Fukurodani’s #7 shanked the ball as it flew to the right.

“All right!”

Nice, service ace. Aoyuki clapped her hands along with the other boys who were standing on the sub area. She’s currently seated beside Takeda in the bench, Ukai in his other side. Kiyoko and Yachi were standing on the side, with the former writing the scores in her notebook.

Aoyuki also noticed as the match progressed, everyone seems like they were making fewer mistakes this time. It was gradual, but definitely noticeable. They were also narrowing the point gap with every set they play.

She pumped her fist, Yosh, we’re definitely not the weak team we were two days ago! She then winced once clenching her fist a little too much. She opened her fist and looked at her palm.
