Lacrimisis was a rare disease of unknown origins.

Nobody knew where it came from. How did it originate. What was the main cause of it? —and who were the ones who were prone to it...

It was a disease that was connected to a certain emotion— sadness. This disease causes a person's heart to be weakened, eventually coughing out blood. That's why a person with the disease Lacrimisis should always be smiling.

But for a girl who had always had a weak heart, it was hard to try and not be sad— especially when she had that rare disease.

Ever since (Y/N) was a child, she had been locked in her room because of her weak heart— and to add on, they later found out she had the rare disease Lacrimisis as well.

The doctors have been saying she wouldn't ever live past the age of 17, and suggested that she should be kept away from contact with the outside world— so, (Y/N) and her parents moved to a lone countryside surrounded by forests and away from people.

But despite all that— she smiled. (Y/N) smiled no matter how painful everything was. She smiled no matter how hard life was for her. She smiled even if she was a time-limited princess locked in her castle.

She never cried.

------

"Look, nanny! The butterfly is so—...." (Y/N) turned around to show her nanny the butterfly that finally landed against her finger. With the brightest smile, she turned around only to find no one there.

(Y/N) looked around...her nanny wasn't there...her mommy wasn't there...her daddy wasn't there either. Tears stung her eyes— she never cried so easily because she was with the people who loved and cared for her.

But when she was alone— her thoughts would take over. Telling her there was no point in living when her body was already in its worse state.

Her smile slowly disappeared as she looked around in the empty and lonely forest. She was alone— all alone.

(Y/N) fell to her knees, she was just following a small pretty butterfly that had flew to her and now she got lost. "No...I can't cry...." She shook her head and shut her eyes tight, clenching her fists.

As a child of merely 12 years old, (Y/N) was exceptionally bright for her age. This was mostly because she had to be more familiarized with her disease— she never played out much as well and spent her time just reading books.

"Mommy said....I should never," (Y/N)'s little voice broke, her tears finally winning over her and pouring out like a waterfall.

"Why....must I have this disease?" She cried, feeling her chest tighten— she placed her hand on her chest. "It's so.....unfair."

"Why me?!......." (Y/N)'s tears kept running down, her voice falling into whimpers as she starts choking on her sobs. "What did I....do to deserve this kind of suffering?!" (Y/N) bent her head down, feeling suffocated.

Her thoughts were dangerous— unthinkable things were coming to her mind. Tears flood her eyes and (Y/N) couldn't breathe anymore.

"I don't..........want to die....like this....." (Y/N) gasped for air, as she continuously smacked her fist against her chest. "I have to stop— stop crying..!!"

Takasugi flinched a bit when he hears distant crying. He was just wandering around the trees near the Shoka Sonjuku— Shoyo had always said never to wander too far because people lived deep within it.
