Traitor (Okita Sougo)

*Okay, so Sougo will be a little older here— let's say around 25?

Hijikata glanced at Sougo and shook his head as he puts his cigarette out, "Where's (Y/N)?" He asks Sougo, who indifferently shrugged his shoulders at him.

"I don't know," He frowns, "She went off to work early in the morning." He sighs, but Hijikata had easily seen through him. Quietly, he exhales softly and scowls.

"Are the two of you still fighting?" He asks which makes Sougo puff his cheeks in annoyance.

"...She started it."

"You two are adults and have been together for years, and yet you still fight like children." Hijikata sighs, turning to Sougo. "But, you know Sougo— she's a good woman, so no matter what happens don't do anything that'll hurt her."

Sougo's eyebrows furrowed at Hijikata's scolding before he huffs. He never liked it when Hijikata scolded him— to be honest, he didn't like it either when Hijikata talked to him,

"........"

Hijikata wondered why Sougo had remained quiet, usually the man would answer with 'Like I would ever do that' or 'Are you doubting my love for her.' But this time, he was silent and couldn't say anything— Sougo's red eyes were guilty, an emotion that he usually never shows.

Hijikata didn't know why, he didn't wanna know. Something was going on between the power couple of the Shinsengumi— a couple who had stayed strong for 3 years.

"....It's none of your business."

Sougo mutters and then walks away, leaving Hijikata alone. Shrugging his hands into his pockets, he looks down at the pavement.

Brown guilty eyes and little white lies
Yeah, I played dumb but I always knew
That you'd talk to her, maybe did even worse
I kept quiet so I could keep you

"...Sougo." (Y/N) looks at him with indifferent (E/C) eyes. She was about to head out while Sougo had just arrived home.

"Why are you back so late, Kondo-san dismissed us early today." She asks him and he merely glanced at her as he pushes through and lays on the couch.

"Nothing. My patrol just took a long time,"

(Y/N) clicks her tongue, as she went on to put her coat on. That was such an obvious lie, did he even try to come up with an excuse? Obviously not.

"Where are you off to?"

(Y/N) internally rolled her eyes, she didn't want to start another fight so she just decided to play dumb for today.

"I'm off to meet a friend, she's here on Earth for some business so she invited me out for a drink."

Sougo's red eyes lingered on her figure for a while before he looked away, emotionless as always.

"Alright, be safe."

(Y/N)'s eyes watered slightly, did he simply not care about her or was he just acting like a douchebag? Was he so confident that she would never leave him for someone else? But she didn't want to think about all of that stuff.

Their relationship had gone on for years, what was even the point of doing something about it now?

"I'm off," She softly says as she walks out of their apartment quietly. During the first year they got together, they decided to move out of the Shinsengumi Compound and to rent an apartment nearby together— which they still lived in up until now.
