Chapter 56

Bani(to inspector)- "Veer is my husband, we fought so I denied accepting him as my husband but truth is that I married him today only."
Inspector- "Do you have any proof that he is your husband?"
Bani- "I have photos of our marriage."
Veer(thinks)- "Finally she got some sense."

Raman calls Veer.

Raman(on call)- "I will come to take you and Bani at 8am tomorrow."
Veer(thinks)- "Oh that's why she came here, she wanted to save her skin."

He ends call.

Veer(to inspector)- "She is not my wife, these photos of marriage are fake, yes I flirted with girl, arrest me."
Bani- " If u have gone mad?"
Inspector- "What drama is this? You both go and celebrate your marriage night, leave."
Veer- "I won't leave, you can't do injustice with girl, I flirted with her so its your duty to put me in lock-up."
Inspector- "I am asking you to leave."

Veer slaps policeman.

Veer- "I have raised hand on on-duty officer, arrest me."

Inspector arrests him.

Bani(thinks)- "Veer is doing all this deliberately, Inspector plz let us leave, we are newly married."
Inspector- "You come tomorrow and free your husband."

Bani takes gun.

Bani- "If you don't leave my husband then I will fire at you."

Inspector arrests Bani too. Both are put behind jail.

Veer(to Bani)- "I made plan to be away from you but you have snatched my peace."
Bani- "My life is destroyed after marrying you, we are staying in lock-up, how romantic."

Someone takes tape recorder from dustbin.

Veer is sleeping.

Bani- "Mamu will come to take us in morning, what to do? Veer how can you sleep so peacefully, do something."
Veer- "Let me sleep."

Bani throws water on him. He gets up.

Veer- "You threw water on me?"
Bani- "No, no it's raining here."

Veer takes bucket and throws whole bucket on her. Bani shouts. They fight with each other. Inspector comes.

Inspector- "Why you are fighting like tom and jerry, you both leave from this lock-up, you have destroyed peace of police station."

He throws them out of police station.

Bani and Veer are walking to hotel.

Bani(thinks)- "It was too much adventure for one day, now we should reach hotel."

She is shivering as she is wet.

Veer(thinks)- "What kind of wife I have got, she has too much ego that she won't say that she is feeling cold, if I will try to help her then she will say that I am taking advantage of her."
Veer- "Don't know when we will reach hotel."
Bani- "My life is destroyed, we are walking on road like mads."

Veer hires taxi. Two thieves come and snatches Mangalsutra from Bani's neck. She shouts.

Bani- "Veer, follow them."
Veer- "Let it be, we will buy another one."
Bani- "It's my mangalsutra, it's important for me."

Bani and Veer sit in taxi and follow thieves.

Veer- "This marriage is just compromise, it's just a piece of jewelry which you wear to show off to our family."
Bani- "It's not a piece of jewelry for me, it's my identity, I have upbringing to respect my mangalsutra."
Veer- "Good speech, why Mangalsutra is important for you?"
Bani- "Because it is sign of our marriage."
Veer- "When there is nothing between us then why are you dying for it."

Bani doesn't answer him. Thieves are running on bike. Their bike slips. Veer comes out of taxi and takes Mangalsutra from them. Thief shows him knife.

Thief - "Give it."

Veer beats them. They run away. Veer gives mangalsutra back to Bani.

Bani- "Thanks"

She tries wearing it back.

Veer- "Can I help?"

She allows him.
(Dil Ibadat instrumental plays)
Veer ties Mangalsutra in Bani's neck.

Taxi driver(to Veer)- "You became hero for her, this mangalsutra is like this only, my wife gets mad too if her mangalsutra is lost, I can say that there is something special between you and her, we don't realize the relation but when the tie is broken then it hurts."

Bani and Veer sit in taxi.

Veer- "He(taxi driver) was right, I believe in relationships but I can't imagine it with you, I feel like I am tied with you from rope forcefully for life, don't know how we will spend it."
Bani- "Don't expect any sympathy from me, I got married to you forcefully but I will respect this relation, this mangalsutra is important for me, I wish I would have respected the one whom I married but you don't deserve it."

Man plays tape recorder.

Bani(on tape recorder)- "Maa I also loved Jay but couldn't tell u because of u and Anita animosity."

He writes note.

Veer and Bani are going to Leela's house with Raman.

Raman- "Why you both are silent? Bani puttar I know you don't like to wake up so early but we have to take flight, Veer Bani doesn't like to wake up early."
Veer- "It's ok now we are married so I will see to it, I will change her bad habits."
Bani- "Mamu you know na I don't change myself for anyone."
Raman- "You both keep up this nok-jhok as love is hidden in it."

Veer and Bani stare each other.

Leela- "Pinni if preparations are done in guradvarah for charity?"
Pinni- "Don't worry, I have done everything, I am going there only."

She leaves.

Leela- "I have to check lunch too."

She listens Bani's noise. She finds tape recorder playing.

Bani(in recording)- "Maa I loved Jay too but couldn't tell you as you and Anita were enemies, I was wrong, I should have told you truth."

Leela is shocked to listen it.
