I sit in the car while looking up at the tall building that I have become way too familiar with, sighing before stepping out of my car and walking towards the glass doors of the edifice.
I push the door open, walking inside and spotting Megan walking towards her desk with a cup of coffee in her hand. Once she sits down she looks up at me, smiling at me before calling me over.
I gladly do, looking down at her as she stays sitting behind her desk. "You're late!" She exclaims as if I wasn't aware of such thing, a taunting grin on her lips.
"I know! I forgot to get up after hearing my alarm." I inform her with a sigh, rubbing my temple with my hand and hearing her snicker right after.
"Then you should probably make up something so he doesn't get mad at you." She advises, secretly pointing to the far hallway and I immediately catch Harry walking, his hands behind his back and wearing a black suit.
His eyes meet mine and a frown takes over his face as he strides towards me, he doesn't look mad but his slow steps make me feel anxious, his peaceful pace startling me.
"Evelyn," He looks me up and down before locking his eyes with mine, "mind telling me why you're late?"
I honestly do not understand him, just yesterday he was glowing with joy and he asked me so many questions about Hazel with a grin on his face. But now he has seemed to snap out of that state, a cold stare in his eyes as he looks down at me as if he is superior to me.
Good thing he isn't.
"An inconvenience." I shrug, looking down at Megan and waving before walking towards the elevator and pressing the button.
I wait, feeling Harry's presence right next to me just as the doors open and I walk inside with Harry doing the same. The doors close in front of us and I press the button to the top floor before leaning my back against the metal wall.
"Evelyn, arriving at work tardily is not very professional of you." He states, his eyes on the metal doors instead of looking at me while crossing his arms over his chest.
"I'm aware and I'm truly sorry," I mutter, mimicking his actions and crossing my arms while looking at my feet. Unfortunately, I have to apologise to him because he's right in this situation.
"I hope the situation doesn't repeat itself, just because we have something going on at the moment doesn't mean you can do whatever you want."
I raise my eyebrows, looking up at him immediately and let out a dry laugh. "I don't recall saying anything of the sort, I rarely get to work late and may I add that I'm only ten minutes late."
He doesn't reply, the doors open but after taking two steps out of the elevator we are stopped by someone I find familiar. I'm sure I've seen him before.
"Mr. Styles, I would like to have a conversation with you if possible." He mutters, glaring at me for a few seconds before looking at Harry once again. The realisation hits me as I remember yesterday, the man that winked at me and the man I stepped on.
Thinking about it makes me want to burst out laughing because his reaction was incredible.
"What is it, Carter?" Harry asks, settling his hand on my lower back while furrowing his eyebrows and the man, Carter, breathes in while taking a short glance at me.
"Yesterday, this woman s–"
"Evelyn, my name is Evelyn." I smile at him, watching as he sends me a sharp glare before returning his attention to Harry, who simply raised his eyebrows.
"She stepped on my foot." He states, pointing an accusing finger at me while I cross my arms over my chest with furrowed eyebrows.
"Maybe if you hadn't winked at me I wouldn't have done that, let's be honest here, you deserved it."
