I sit down on the chair of my desk, my cheek on my hand while I have Megan sitting in front of me with her arms crossed. "I'm sure it'll go just fine, Eve."
"I know, but I just hope they don't come up with another stupid idea," I mutter, looking at the clock on the wall and sighing while Megan presses her lips.
They have been in one of the meeting rooms for hours now, no news on how it's going and no sign of ending soon even though I have to leave in a few.
Megan has shown up a few minutes ago, telling me that she has done everything she was supposed to and claiming that she could stay with me until I leave.
It made me feel better for a few moments, but the more seconds tick by the more anxious I become and Megan has clearly noticed it.
It's not that I care that much about the contract, but the fear of the ending of it coming with a price scares me especially now that they know about me.
"We should probably head out now Eve, you told me that you still want to go buy something for Hazel so let's go," Megan mumbles, looking at me with concern all over her features as I nod while getting up.
She hands me my purse and my jacket and after putting it on, we both walk outside of my office with slow steps while I fidget with the buttons of my coat.
The hall is empty, only a few people walking by and all the doors closed while the silence of the late evening seems to fill the entire building.
Megan suddenly stops in front of one of the closed doors and knocks, making me frown subtly as she side glances at me with a small smile. "Thought we'd tell Harry we're leaving before we go."
I simply nod, watching as the door is opened by none other than Harry who looks at us with a frown before turning his head to the people inside the room. "Give me a moment."
He steps out, closing the door behind him without giving them a chance to reply and crosses his arms over his chest. He looks tired, hair messy and his tie loosened around his neck while the sleeves of the white dress shirt he wore underneath his suit are rolled up to his elbows, revealing a few of his tattoos.
"We just wanted to let you know that we're leaving," Megan tells him, glancing at me as Harry widens his eyes before running a hand through his hair.
"Megan, could you please give us a moment?" He tries his hardest to send her a smile and she nods with a small grin at his sudden politeness.
"Sure, I'll wait by my desk." She gives me a reassuring smile before strolling away from us while humming a song to herself.
I look up at Harry as he rolls his neck from side to side in a way to loosen up before staring down at me with a slight frown. "You're going already?"
"Yeah, I still need to drive by some store to get something for Hazel." I remind him, watching as he lets out a sigh before touching my cheek softly.
"Wait just a second."
He walks back inside and I stand there with furrowed eyebrows, not even being able to understand what he's doing before he steps out again with a roll of his eyes.
"Assholes," He mutters, turning to me with a gentle smile, "will you accompany me to my office so I can get my things?"
"What?"
He sets his hand on my lower back before starting to walk towards his office while shortly looking at his watch. "I informed them we'd resume this meeting on another day, I'm available to go to Hazel's monthday celebration."
"You didn't have to do that, Harry, " I tell him truthfully as we stop in front of his office door, "it's an important meeting, you should have just continued with it."
"Sure." He murmurs, unlocking the door and walking inside while I stand by the doorway as he rummages through some drawers on his desk with furrowed eyebrows.
Someone clears their throat from behind me and we both turn our head only to find Charlotte standing there with crossed arms, looking between Harry and I.
"May I help you, Charlotte?" Harry inquiries, grabbing the jacket of his suit before walking towards where I am and setting a hand on my lower back.
"I just wanted to say that I shouldn't have told Harry about your child." She mutters, sending a glare in Harry's direction before looking back at me with a blank stare.
"Oh, don't worry about it," I say awkwardly, looking up at Harry who had his eyebrows pulled low and his green eyes stuck on Charlotte.
It isn't that bad, at least now, of course I was pissed when she did it but in a way it made things get slightly better between me and Harry. He met Hazel, she likes him and they get along very well so far, what's in the past should be left behind and no matter how hurt I was, everything was fixed.
She simply nods before walking away, causing me to pucker my lips while glancing up at Harry with raised eyebrows as he closes the door behind him.
"Do you have any idea of what's that about?" I ask him, watching him as he locks the door with his eyebrows pulled low before turning around to stare at me.
"Possibly, I believe we'll never truly know," He smiles, nodding shortly at me before putting the jacket of his suit on top of his white dress shirt after rolling down the sleeves, "we should go now, Megan is waiting for us after all."
Waiting for me, but okay.
We walk towards the elevator and he pushes the button, frowning when a third person joins us waiting for the elevator. "Good evening, Mr. Styles."
I take a step closer to Harry instinctively, looking at Carter as he grips his duffel bag a little too harshly, probably trying not to punch me right now.
Harry simply nods, wrapping his arm around my waist while we wait for the metal doors to open in torturous silence. I don't understand why Carter has seemed to take a disliking in me, after all, I couldn't just let him wink at me and not do anything about it.
He honestly sounds like a child who got told no for the first time and is now throwing a tantrum in some sort of revenge and even though I have a now eight months old daughter at home, his behaviour is so much worse than hers.
The doors finally open and we all step inside, Harry's arm still wrapped around my waist as the doors close in front of us and I raise my eyebrows as he nearly punches the button to the first floor.
I nudge his side with my elbow, causing him to look down at me with his frown still present on his features and I chuckle while patting his hand that's on my waist, watching as his lips twitch upwards in the slightest.
I glance at Carter, who immediately looks away from us with his eyebrows raised and an ignorant smile on his lips. I shake my head, practically jumping out of joy as the doors open to reveal the first floor, where I spot Megan speaking to Niall by her desk.
We all walk away from the elevator and while Carter immediately leaves the building, Harry and I stride towards Megan and Niall. "Finally! What took you so long?" Megan breathes out, flailing her arms in the slightest while I shrug.
"A small inconvenience." I nod my head in Harry's direction, in a way to indicate that he was the small inconvenience and she laughs while Harry simply furrows his eyebrows at me.
"Well, we should go now then," Megan says while grabbing her purse and putting her coat on, "bye guys!"
She walks away and Niall waves at us with a grin before following her outside with his hands clasped behind his back. "He's so whipped, it's not even funny at this point," I mutter, watching as Harry lets out a chuckle before starting to walk outside as well, taking me with him.
"I was thinking that perhaps you could come with me in my car, I'd pick you up tomorrow morning if so." He suggests once we're outside, looking down at me as I furrow my eyebrows while thinking.
"I assume that would be fine," I mutter, glancing up at him with a small smile and he visibly tries not to grin, pulling me closer to him before starting to walk towards his car.
Quite don't like this one but I truly hope you do!♡
