I look up from the folder Harry had given me a few moments ago when I hear a knock on the door, furrowing my eyebrows when Harry walks inside with a weird look on his face.

"Evelyn, I'm afraid there is something I need to talk to you about." He mutters, sitting on one of the chairs in front of my desk with a paper in his hand and a frown on his face.

"What'd I do?" I sigh, putting the folder away and watching as he sends me an upset look before setting the paper on my desk slowly.

"Carter has filed a workplace complaint about you, usually the complainant doesn't want the other to know but he specifically asked me to tell you." He informs me, furrowing his eyebrows when I don't do anything and tilting his head.

I stare at the paper in front of me blankly, too shocked to even read the words before blinking and looking down at my hands with furrowed eyebrows. "Is there anything I can do?"

"Well, when someone complains about you at work, it is a difficult situation to control or predict but the best way to solve this would be to try damage control, which basically means you have to apologise to him in my presence."

I simply nod, keeping my gaze down and fidgeting with my rings in a way to keep myself from saying something I'll regret later on. This bitch is really getting what he wanted, what a fucking child.

I was having an actual good day but he just decided to ruin it. I can count on my fingers how many times I talked to this guy but he just decided that I am a bad person, because I stepped on his foot.

Now that I think about it, this is such a childish thing to do. It's like we're in some sort of kindergarten and he got offended by something so small, I didn't even step on his foot that hard but maybe next time I should.

It's not that apologising to him will hurt my dignity because let's be honest here I shouldn't even waste my time with him and doing that will just be another pure waste of time, the thing is that his fragile ego got hit and he isn't satisfied with that. Typical, isn't it?

"Do you want to do that right now? I'll talk to him." Harry asks, trying to look me directly in the eyes but I avoid it, nodding once again while biting my tongue to stop myself from speaking.

He sighs, grabbing the paper once again and walking out of my office and I take the chance to drop my face in my hands with a defeated sigh.

Maybe I shouldn't have stepped on his foot, if I had done nothing I wouldn't be in this situation and probably I'd be at peace. But the thing is that I hate it when men think they can always get what they want, I wanted him to understand that winking at random women is wrong and so men-like that it comes across as a bit sickening. It was an educational moment, he just got offended because he knows he's wrong.

The door of my office opens after a few moments and Harry peeks his head in with a pitiful smile. "Eve, come on." He encourages, watching me as I get up while fixing my clothes and walking towards him.

Before we could step out he squeezes my shoulder reassuringly, sending me a worried glance before stepping aside so I could walk out of my office. "I'm sorry." He mumbles and I turn my head to look at him with furrowed eyebrows.

"It's fine, you're just doing your job."

He nods, setting a hand on my lower back while guiding me down the hallway towards Carter's office, his thumb brushing my back in a split second before stopping. Harry knocks on the door, hesitantly taking his hand away from me and clasping them behind his back.

The door opens and for a few seconds I try to think in the best way to sarcastically apologise but I decide against it, it would only make things worse.
