"Hello?" Yeonjun spoke calmly as he answered the annoying call that made his phone ring every two minutes this morning. He was still dressing up when his phone rang, making him dress quicker and curse at the same time. It's still too early for his liking."Hyung, where the hell are you?" A voice from the now answered call asked. It was Choi Beomgyu, Yeonjun's co-worker at the library. He's also considered as a friend of Yeonjun, only if he doesn't annoy the older. Actually, he always does, but he's still a friend! A best friend to be exact.
Yeonjun is a librarian at a little library in Seoul. He's been working there for two years now. Despite receiving little amount of salary monthly, he still continues to work there. There were a lot more jobs to do but he chose to be a librarian, getting paid less than the others. Why not He enjoys it anyway.
"I'm almost there, okay? Bye." Yeonjun ended the call without waiting for his friend to speak to him in reply. He tied the final shoelace and went outside, locking his front door. Oh yes, he's still at home. He then ran to the nearest bus station. He wasn't late yet, but if a traffic occurs, then Yeonjun is dead meat. He's late by then.
After some minutes the bus came, so he hurriedly went inside and sat down on one of the seats. He kept looking forward, trying to see if he's going to arrive behind time. Now, he's complaining on why does he always wake up late. He sleeps early, but guess he just really loves sleep.
Of course, the bus stopped at the next destination. Unfortunately, Yeonjun still needs to walk from the bus station for him to arrive at work. He's now considered late. He already claimed it earlier. Wow, he can be a fortune teller. Because yes, he's really late as he looked at the time displayed on the screen of his phone.
Walking for a few minutes now, Yeonjun felt something drop onto his head, running down to his face. He looked up and some more droplets came down to his face. "Shit," he cursed.
He started running, knowing that the upcoming rain may pour down on him anytime soon. He doesn't want to get soaked up, but it just seems like the world hates him too much. The rain started pouring and it gets heavier every time it gets the chance. "Just what the fuck," Yeonjun sighed.
A few more running and he shall arrive at the library, but the stop lights turned green, signaling the cars to go. Then, the pedestrian signals turned red, signaling all people to stop crossing the road. Yeonjun, who is now soaked by the rain, is just standing there next to the signal. He's waiting for it to turn green so he could already walk across the road and get to work. Unluckily, the signal took so long for it to turn green.
The signals turned green! Finally! Yeonjun was so ready to walk across. He took the first step, but was shocked with what happened after.
"Who the heck walks under the rain without an umbrella?" an unfamiliar voice spoke. Yeonjun didn't know who this person was, but he was sure that this is a man. He also didn't know why did this man right here shielded him from the downpour.
It's very shocking for him. Who would talk to a stranger anyway? He doesn't know this man, nor does this man know Yeonjun. They were complete strangers, yet they were now sharing one umbrella on a rainy morning. Just... It's too unexpected.
"Where are you heading?" the young man spoke again, asking Yeonjun. They were now on the other side of the road, standing close to each other. On the other hand, Yeonjun is still in a state of shock that he couldn't answer the man's question immediately. "Um, hello?" The man waved his right hand in front of Yeonjun's face.
"O-oh, um, the library straight ahead. I'll be heading there." Finally, Yeonjun spoke. He still couldn't look at the stranger's face. "Anyways, thank you."
Yeonjun was about to start walking towards the library. He already knew he was late, but what the hell. This is too unexpected. I can't just forget this happened, Yeonjun thought, but another unfortunate situation occurred. "What do you mean thank you? I'm still going to share this umbrella with you. We're heading to the same destination."
With that, the man caught up with Yeonjun and started walking towards the library. Yeonjun was still in shock. This never happened in his life before. This man just shared an umbrella with him and now he's heading to the library too. He doesn't even know him. I swear. I have never seen this man, Yeonjun thought again.
When they arrived, Yeonjun went into the building quickly as the man was closing his umbrella. Yeonjun wanted to go up the library already, but he couldn't. He needs to give thanks to this man. "Hey, um, thanks for sharing the umbrella with me. I'll just see you around... I guess?"
"Yeah, you're welcome." Yeonjun was about to turn around and leave when the man already responded to him, but stopped when the used umbrella that was held by the man stopped him from walking. "Here."
"Why the hell are you giving this to me?" Yeonjun finally looked at the man, confused on why he was handing over his umbrella. "This is yours, not mine."
"Keep it. It's yours now. It's so stupid of you to walk under the rain without anything to keep you dry. Bye."
