"are we finally going home now?" soomin stopped from walking as he heard his brother and looked at him. they were a bit far from each other for soomin seemed to be walking too faster than usual. as she stopped and looked at soobin, she walked towards him. "choi..."soobin opened his arms wide as he welcomed his twin sister into a warm embrace. soomin laid his head on soobin's chest as tears slowly, and slowly, fall from both of her eyes. soobin felt that, and he caressed his sister's back, and then her head, as a way of comfort and calming. "shh, choi. stop crying."
"how could i not?" his sister asked. more tears seemed to be falling and falling as soobin felt his shirt getting soaked. as soobin felt his sister calm down, he pushed her a little away from him and placed his hand on her shoulder as they started walking again, nearing their parked car.
the trip back home wasn't that long now that there's no heavy traffic occurring. it took at least an hour before they reached their house. for the whole ride, the twins were sleeping with the music on, airpods on both sides of their ears. soomin just woke up at the sound of the car horn, then woke soobin up when she realized they've reached home.
"son!" their mother called out as the siblings enter their house. the mother hugged soobin and immediately after, she hugged soomin. unusual, she never hugs soobin. "come, let's eat. i've cooked lunch for us."
soobin nodded and was about to go to the dining room to follow his mother but was stopped when he heard his father calling him from upstairs. he waited until his father stepped down the last of the stairs and was startled when his father hugged him. strange, quite strange.
his father smiled at him and placed his arm around soobin's shoulder, leading him to the dining room where soomin and his mother were waiting. soobin sat beside his twin sister, while their mother was sitting across from them and their father on the head of the table. they started eating after soobin and soomin thanked their parents for food.
"have some more, soobin," his father was already looking at him when he looked. the father handed over the plate full of soobin's favorite food to soobin. he, with a smile, accepted the plate from his father and put some on his own plate. although he's not used to seeing his parents being like this, he kept up with everyone and pretend he's not used to it. he kept on pretending everything was like this even before.
after lunch, soobin immediately excused himself and went to his bedroom. opening the door, he was surprised to see that his bedroom was quite empty. his bed wasn't there, his side table, desk, chairs, drawers, and more of his stuff weren't there. cans of paints were placed on one side of the room, with brushes, nails, hammers, and more tools. two workers were inside, painting the walls of the room.
"what the—"
"we planned to renovate your room. this time, we'll stick with what you like, soobin."
"you didn't have to do that, dad," without looking at his father, he answered. his hand was still on the door knob as he roamed his eyes around his room and looking at the work of the workers.
"but we wanted to, son. we want you to have what you like." soobin just nodded. he turned his back and facing his father, he gave him a small smile and they walked together, going downstairs.
a few more hours passed by so quickly, and an hour before dinner, soobin was in his twin sister's room, talking about all of what happened when they didn't see each other for years. they've talked about their lives in different countries.
