He's in the Rain

chapter twenty-four

"i don't know this man, really," beomgyu said as his eyes are looking everywhere but yeonjun, embarrassment surrounding the place. the laughter of taehyun and huening kai were heard, especially kai's, whose laugh is louder than anyone else around inside that cafe restaurant. "seriously, i really don't have a single idea who this man is."

the laughter of those three friends continued, and yeonjun still hasn't come back to the chaotic but fun reality where his love story probably just started. he's still in a state of daydreaming. yeonjun has been smiling since this morning, right after entering the library for work, like he's living in a world full of sunshines and rainbows. however, it's actually raining outside.

"someone please do something to him," taehyun looked straight at yeonjun who was now eating his ordered food while smiling widely. he's acting really weird, everyone in that table was weirded out at him. beomgyu then looked at huening kai, while the youngest was doing his very best not to meet beomgyu's eyes.

he knows what beomgyu wants, and that is to slap yeonjun directly on his face, or push him out of his chair, or whatever he can do to at least make yeonjun move. making it simple, beomgyu wants kai to wake yeonjun up from his imaginations, imaginations that will never or probably will happen in the near future. no one even knows what he was imagining about. it's probably him in a world of mint choco, or a lifetime supply of ramen. could be either or neither. either way, it's still kind of weird seeing him in a never-before-seen situation.

"are you sure i won't get in trouble?" huening kai asked, putting down his utensils to do something to his friend. yeonjun wasn't still back to reality, he was still in his own world. right now, the three friends, beomgyu, taehyun, and huening kai, were eager to escape yeonjun from his imaginations.

"i'm sure you won't get into any trouble," beomgyu answered his younger friend. "but if you do, i'll be running away somewhere. hehe." with that small laugh of his, taehyun bursted into laughter while beomgyu got a not-so scary glare from huening kai.

kai was now hesitating to do something to yeonjun, but that's the only way possible to stop yeonjun from embarrassing everybody else, rather than waiting for him to escape his own world alone. right now, kai's right hand was holding yeonjun by his shoulders, and it seems like yeonjun couldn't even feel anything. huening kai took a deep breath, looked at beomgyu and taehyun, nodded, and took another deep breath. he finally looked at yeonjun and did was he was supposed to do.

"why the fuck did you do that?!" yeonjun's voice was loud, but not that loud for everyone inside that restaurant to hear him. maybe a few of the people near their table heard him and looked at him, probably thinking how yeonjun was such a disturbance.

yeonjun looked at huening kai first, but heard the other two stifling their giggles but failed for it was really a worth of laughter seeing what the youngest did with the oldest of their group. yeonjun sent glares their way, but none of them seemed to care except for huening kai who quickly regretted his actions, scared at his hyung, but also finding the situation hilarious.

"what was that for?!" yeonjun asked his three friends who still can't show straight faces because of laughter. yeonjun couldn't even laugh or smile or even leave a positive expression. he was upset but not to the point where anyone can see smoke leaving his nostrils.

"we just want you to stop embarrassing yourself, dumb ass." beomgyu's courage never left his side as he said those words to the oldest. he fears no one, nothing, not even a single living or non-living thing in this world. beomgyu received another glare, but did he care? no.

"yeah, and shove a damn handful of tissues down my throat making me fall off from my damn chair?!" i mean, who wouldn't get mad at this.

yeonjun ordered a chicken fillet for lunch, which he was slicing earlier. but he just kept on slicing while having this big smile on his face, he couldn't even notice that he hasn't eaten even one small amount of his food. huening kai saw that as a chance to wake him up by stuffing tissues on his mouth, with yeonjun being startled by it and fall off from his own seat. at least half of the number of people inside the restaurant saw him, who wouldn't be embarrassed at all.

"woah, what is going on...?" a familiar voice at the back said. looking at that man, taehyun smiled with his teeth shown, beomgyu still couldn't stop giggling, huening kai scooted over to make space, while yeonjun... well, he put his head down out of all that embarrassment he was receiving. "and why is he like this?"

no one was answering those questions. they were just all just trying to stifle their smiles as yeonjun kept on sending glares directed to his three friends while he had his head low.

"what happened to my yeonjunie?" and the world slowed down.

shivers. his voice alone sent shivers all throughout yeonjun's body. if before yeonjun was feeling shivers because of that nickname coming from that voice, at this point it's only that voice that causes all this. that voice, that man.

before yeonjun could even look straight in front, he already felt two fingers holding his chin, making yeonjun look at him. yeonjun blushed at the sight of a charming face of a man with shining eyes, pinkish lips formed into a bright smile, and those pretty dimples which could be admired by anyone. their faces... probably less than two inches close to each other. seems like they didn't care about those three guys on their table, and the rest of the customers in the restaurant.

when their eyes met, everything stopped.

"so, what really happened here?" soobin asked his friends once again as he sat at the space huening kai left for him earlier and looked at yeonjun who was still in a state of blushing, obviously reddish cheeks are visible.

"well," taehyun started. "your 'yeonjunie' has been living in his own world for about at least half of the work day, starting this morning. i mean, that's what beomgyu hyung said."

"it's true! that unusual and now creepy smile never left his face and it's weirding me the hell out. he hasn't been focused much on his work this time and all he did was act as if he was the brightest person there is," beomgyu explained as soobin listened but never looked at beomgyu and only at yeonjun.

well, yeonjun's smile wasn't there right now for he has been waken up from his daydreaming. he's now eating properly and there would probably be no tissue papers to be stuffed down his mouth at this point. he has waken up to reality. finally.

and then, suddenly, a visible smirk was formed and seen on soobin's face. the three other friends, huening kai, beomgyu, and taehyun, were clearly confused at the sudden action of their hyung. they don't have an idea why he was smirking. if it was a smile it would be understandable for soobin smiles a lot but a smirk? probably not.

"yeah, weird," soobin blurted, lost at yeonjun's eyes. "but that's not gonna change anything."

everyone on that table was confused, even yeonjun didn't seem to have any idea what soobin was talking about. he kept on trying to avoid soobin's eyes but no matter how hard he tries, his eyes would and will always land on the other's. side effects of liking someone? yeah, sure.

"surely, nothing's gonna change. i still like him."
