"have some more, son." soobin smiled as he saw yeonjun's mother looking at him, pushing the plate of beef towards his side so he could get more. soobin carefully got some of the beef using his chopsticks and put it over his bowl of rice."thank you, ma'am, i will eat well," soobin thanked yeonjun's mother and continued eating quietly as it was before. after taking a spoonful of rice, soobin looked around the dining table to see every family member of yeonjun looking at him like he was quite the fascinating man he is.
soobin gulped, feeling everyone's stares and him being shy about it. he already expected this to happen back when he was told about going to meet yeonjun's family but now that he's here, it felt like it was unexpected for soobin.
"suitor," yeonjun's father suddenly started talking while they were at the living room of their house right after eating lunch. "you are my son's suitor?"
soobin is sitting across yeonjun's parents. yeonjun was beside soobin, with a few inches space between the two of them. the rest of the group of friends, beomgyu, taehyun, and huening kai, went with yeonjun's sister. since they saw that young girl, they played with her and spent time with her, playing the doll house and some girly stuff the sister plays.
"yes, sir." soobin didn't show even the slightest hint of nervousness felt inside his body. he wanted to be confident, and he did. yeonjun's father smiled.
"soobin, correct?" soobin nodded and politely answered yes to the question. "what do you like to do for fun?"
that's odd for soobin, the question. he expected some questions like what is his job situation, his income or his wealth, his standing in the community, and some things financial and social for their sake as a couple. he even practiced to answer those types of questions but unfortunately, these questions weren't asked.
soobin showed a tight lipped smile. "as a child, sir, i haven't done any social activities and usual things that most children may have experienced. i may say that i was raised differently, but i do have hobbies. i like art in general, sir. i enjoy sceneries and landscapes which are pleasant to the eyes. basically things that doesn't require much physical strength. even slow walks around parks are things i tried to enjoy but couldn't get to the chance to experience."
for such a simple question, soobin's answer was quite long. however, it seemed like it wasn't such a problem for yeonjun's parents. mama, yeonjun's grandmother, was enjoying soobin's presence too well that her smile never left her face since the friends arrived there. soobin seems to be catching not only the heart of his person, but also his family, which is a great thing for starting a 'relationship'.
"what's your parents' occupation?" from a personal question to a general one, soobin was pressured for upcoming questions to answer. his family... he doesn't want to talk about it but he's ready if this is a way to make yeonjun's hands be ready for him to take.
"they're in the field of business, sir. my mother is a chief executive officer of our company here in our country, while my father is also a chief executive officer but in another company located in another country." with those mentioned, it was pretty obvious that soobin's family was blessed with wealth and riches. having two companies in two countries is something big, and something quite different.
"i see, what nice businessman and woman they are," yeonjun's father commented and soobin nodded behind his slight disagreement. "well, i am a doctor, specializing in the study of the heart."
more questions and jokes were asked and mentioned during the remaining hours 'til dinner that they didn't finish their talk. yeonjun's dad wanted to continue tomorrow, saying that it's his free day after a while. he wanted to know more about soobin, he said.
after dinner, soobin, beomgyu, huening kai, taehyun, and yeonjun fixed their things from their bags and each took a shower to at least freshen up before going to bed. yeonjun's family house is huge, but not as huge as soobin's own house. this time, they had to share rooms unlike in soobin's house but it didn't matter to them. soobin will stay with beomgyu in a guest room and huening kai will be with taehyun. yeonjun will be alone in his own room.
"do you have plans for your upcoming future?" early in the morning, when everyone was still fast asleep except for soobin and yeonjun's father, they found each other conversing in the balcony.
"besides living life to the fullest, sir, i still am unsure of my plans," soobin started answering. he then got his glass of water to take a sip before continuing with his words. "but i am certain that your son is included in my plans, sir. he's in my future."
yeonjun's father found himself displaying a genuine smile on his face as he heard soobin's words and realized what he meant with those. for the first time, yeonjun introduced to them not a friend but a suitor. of course, it was surprising for everyone but they were all happy for yeonjun. and now that yeonjun's father got to spend time with soobin himself, he's even more happier knowing he'll allow his son to give his hand to someone who will treasure it, someone worthy of it.
later that day, after a nice lunch, it was time to go back to their working lives. soobin will still be the one driving this time, quickly rejecting yeonjun's offer to drive once again. they were all outside the house, placing their things inside the back compartment of the car. then, one by one, they said their goodbyes to the family and went inside soobin's car.
"i'll miss you again," yeonjun said as he was facing his family from the front passenger's seat window. "another month or two and i'll see you. promise."
"of course i'll miss you too, son," mama said, holding his grandson's left hand, slowly caressing it, trying not to be emotional. this is always the hardest part of working far from home, visiting, and leaving once again.
"bye mama, bye mom. take care of yourselves." mama slowly removed her hands from holding yeonjun's and slowly stepped back for the car was about to move. "bye, dad. i'll see you soon, take care."
"bye, son. take care of your health, or else." being the doctor he is, yeonjun's father never forgets to remind his family of things for their own health.
"soobin," yeonjun's father called. "i'll look forward to our next meeting."
soobin gave a salute to yeonjun's father and bid his goodbyes to the rest of the family and lastly to him. "goodbye, mama! goodbye, ma'am! thank you for letting us stay for a while. goodbye, sir. i'll be looking forward to meeting you again as well."
"take care, son." yeonjun's father tapped soobin's shoulder and they all said their goodbyes once more and the car started moving. but after seconds, soobin stopped the car and looked back.
"sir!" soobin called the attention of yeonjun's father. the older raised his left eyebrow. "you don't need to worry. i'll take care of your son. not a promise, but i will."
