"please tell me i don't deserve this." in the middle of eating their lunch together at the cafe restaurant, huening kai sighed, looking at two of his friends in front of him in a table. yeonjun, who was beside him, can't help but laugh and pat huening kai's back."you'll get used to it, kid,"
"who dares to call me a kid? i'm no kid, i'm just single for goodness sake!" and with that, yeonjun, beomgyu, and taehyun started laughing, holding onto each other when they lose their balance over laughter.
the thing is... it's not the same anymore because as each of the days passed by, something was happening between two or more in the group friends. their friendship developed and so are others in some aspects. and by developed, i mean... well. let's just say huening kai is the only person in the group who is, to make it short, single.
"god, since when? i had no idea." huening kai grabbed his glass filled with iced tea, gripping onto it and drinking from it then looked at the two guys in front of him. the two looked at kai at the same time, each of them smiling from ear to ear, left to right.
"since yesterday, obviously," taehyun rolled his eyes and chuckled, continuing more of his words. "didn't you go home with yeonjun hyung yesterday, kai? i went with beomgyu hyung that time and yeah, that's it."
"can't believe you left me being the only one single. i thought we're all gonna be alone for the rest of our lives together! traitors." huening kai glared at the two as beomgyu and taehyun let out their cheeky smiles, then accidentally looking at each other and making eye contact, both of them looking at their other sides out of embarrassment.
"and now you're gonna blush in front of me. great, just great. just slap me hard, damn it."
the four of them laughed as they continued eating their lunch. about half and hour more, they finished eating and did nothing but talk about themselves, shifting from topic to topic, until everything ends with a laugh. huening kai did nothing but talk about the new couple and how single he's feeling today and probably until the next days. beomgyu then talked about kai having someone for his own and started teasing him about it. taehyun and yeonjun joined in teasing until lunch hour was over and was time to go back and continue working.
as usual, beomgyu and yeonjun were either standing at the counter looking at library visitors or sitting down in front of computer, encoding such things. from time to time, both of them also visited some sections of the library to find some books in respective shelves. that went on for four more hours until it was time.
"hyung!" beomgyu called yeonjun who immediately stood up from his seat and looked at who was calling him. "i think you won't be going home early today."
"what do you mean?" yeonjun asked, raising his left brow while asking.
"your date's here."
"date— what the? soobin? he's dressed differently." yeonjun didn't know if it was right for him to show eyes of admiration to the man standing outside the library but was seen through the glass.
soobin was wearing a trench coat stopping at just above his knee with a white button up long sleeved shirt underneath it. he was also wearing a cream or beige colored trousers and basic white sneakers with a lined black stripe. his hair was neatly arranged, most of it placed on one side alone. he seems like the boyfriend everybody wants, but only one could have.
after five to ten minutes, beomgyu and yeonjun went out of the library after finishing their last tasks of the day as workers. beomgyu quickly bid his goodbyes to both soobin and yeonjun and headed downstairs where his boyfriend is. funny how beomgyu and taehyun were still stupid previously and now they're spending their life together.
once beomgyu was no where to be seen around the two, yeonjun looked at soobin who has both of his hands inside both sides of the pocket of his pants as his trench coat went a little behind him, leaning slightly on his right. yeonjun couldn't help but to admire him again before he spoke.
"why... why are you dressed so nicely? did you go somewhere?" yeonjun kept himself from stuttering for he couldn't hide from soobin's deep stares, getting lost at his attractive eyes.
"no, i am about to go somewhere."
"really? then you shouldn't have come here, stupid. i could've just walked home with kai."
"no, yeonjunie." from the intimidating soobin, here came the cute, usual one. yeonjun was confused with soobin's words. "you're coming with me. this should be our, um, first date." after he said that, soobin's ears immediately went reddish and yeonjun saw that in which he giggled at it.
"first date? lead the way, soobinie." and being a couple for at least two months now, they have gotten used to holding hands while walking, sometimes even while soobin is driving. however, it is quite funny how it's already been two months but here they are, going to their first date. "where do you plan on taking me?"
"movie date. i knew you wanted to watch this one movie so i grabbed the opportunity. you're okay with it, yeah?" soobin sounded a bit nervous. maybe because yeonjun might not like his idea of having a movie date. though it's not even a slight problem, he still is nervous.
"of course, i'd love to."
arriving at the huge mall where soobin planned on taking yeonjun in, they parked a bit far from the main entrance for the parking lots were full and they only found a spot somewhere around the mall. and unfortunately, it's raining. good thing soobin had an umbrella at the back of his car. he grabbed the umbrella and went to the other side to guide yeonjun on getting out of the car. this umbrella... before, they used this to cross roads as strangers, and now, they're using this for their first date as a loving couple.
from buying tickets to buying their cheese-flavored popcorn and drinks for them both, it took a little too long but at least they finished even before the movie started. they went inside cinema two and walked up the small stairs leading to the top seats. that's where yeonjun and soobin sat down to watch.
and the movie started. yeonjun wasn't really that scared, but there are times where he would flinch at the sudden jumpscares and screams of other people watching the movie with them. but looking at soobin, it seems like he wasn't even that focused on the movie.
he can't really take his eyes off of yeonjun even just for a second, can he?
halfway through the movie and soobin didn't understand a thing about it. he's not really fond of horror movies but he couldn't even flinch a bit for his eyes were all on yeonjun only. so he paid to stare at yeonjun and not the movie? what a nice way to spend money.
"yeonjunie," soobin started talking. this time, he flinched. he didn't realize that words were coming out of his mouth, and not from his mind only. "do you have an idea that i..."
"hmm? that you...?"
"that i love you?"
with three words and three syllables, yeonjun lost complete focus on the movie he was watching. yeonjun thought soobin was too focused on him to realize what he was saying but no. this time, soobin knew what he was doing, he knew what just came out of his mouth. i love you. easy to say, yeah? but it's not always true.
soobin's words? well, he doesn't lie. if he couldn't even lie to anyone about personal things, how about those three words? for him, there are too many things to lie about, so what is it for him to lie about loving someone? that 'i love you' isn't just some ordinary thing to say without reasons. you say those words if it's real, if love is truly what you feel.
"what's with you—"
"it's too perfect to be next to you. i just hope you know that from this moment on, i love you."
the idea of having a movie date and soobin's fit itself was from their concept photo: you.
