chapter sixteen

"where the hell are you two going?" yeonjun and soobin were startled as they heard beomgyu yelling while walking towards them. soobin was at yeonjun's house and now they're leaving because they're about to get ice cream of their own. no, it's not a date. they're not dating. "you've been leaving without us! these past months i think we went out with you for only four times!"

it's true. what beomgyu said was true. they have been leaving and going anywhere they thought of going to every weekend. the three younger men wouldn't even go with the two. it was always just yeonjun and soobin. one more time and the three may think they're dating when they're actually not.

and yes, it's been five good months since they became friends. for those months, soobin and yeonjun became much closer than before. they don't always see each other during the weekdays, but they chat each other or even spend time being in a call. they'll sleep together and wake up while they're call was still on going. it's been a habit of theirs for these past months.

it even seems like yeonjun and soobin were closer than anyone else.

"i'm really starting to think you're nothing but more than friends," taehyun suddenly said which made yeonjun's eyes go wide. soobin also got startled and just scratched his head afterwards. the other two, beomgyu and huening kai, agreed and nodded their heads, keeping their laughs to themselves.

"okay, fine. you can come with us," yeonjun said and acted like it was a sign of defeat. the three sat at the back seats of soobin's car right after soobin opened it. yeonjun and soobin haven't even entered the car but the three were already sitting comfortably at the back.

soobin started the engine of the car, placed his seat belt, and was already ready to drive. huening kai connected his phone on the bluetooth of the car and played some music. as usual, it was chaotic inside the car. laughs were obviously heard and there were on going hits from each other's palms. they never really know what silence is.

"pay for your own. no buts!" yeonjun said and got out of the car after soobin parked it outside the ice cream parlor they always go to. the three young men at the back looked at each other, no emotion was seen on their faces. soobin looked at them, not really knowing what the hell do those faces expressed. he went out, following yeonjun, leaving the younger men sitting.

"come out once you've found a way to pay for your ice cream," soobin said and finally closed the door of the car.

they went out, alright, but they still don't know how will they pay for what they will buy. they surely brought money, they just didn't want to let out their own money. it's either they could get money from the two older men, or use their own money. but if those two can't be the proper options, it's their loss. they won't get to eat some.

they went inside the parlor to see yeonjun and soobin sitting near the counter, done with ordering their ice creams. soobin and yeonjun looked at the three, who just entered the parlor, at the same time and had smirks on their faces like they've succeeded on something. the three were still showing no emotions to them as they stood in front of the counter, ready to order.

after ordering, they sat down in front of the two to see them still having those smirks which makes the three feel annoyance. soobin and yeonjun were holding their laughs to themselves.

"you had the urge to let me pay for your orders when you have much more cash in your wallet than me?! assholes," said yeonjun who was acting really dramatic while looking at his wallet, saying that he has less money than the others.

"is it my fault that you've been going on dates at least every weekend? i told you not to get yourself into a relationship because it is just a waste of money." huening kai was acting like he was in a debate or something. he never really lets his hyungs win during crazy quarrels like this.

"who the fuck said i was in a relationship? i'm happily single, dumb head," yeonjun said and looked at huening kai as if he was ready to pull kai's hair anytime right now. oh, the quarrels. these never really made sense.

"is he your boyfriend?" taehyun asked his soobin hyung while soobin was busy eating his ice cream and was beside yeonjun. he looked at them, biting his wooden spoon.

"not yet," soobin answered and all of them were left speechless. 'yet? what the hell does he mean?' yeonjun thought. he was the most shocked out of the four men who heard soobin's answer.

"what..." huening kai asked, whispering.

"...the fuck. since when did you like hyung?" beomgyu continued huening kai's statement and asked soobin that question. kai, taehyun, and yeonjun's face have those confusing looks on their faces, but this choi beomgyu has a smirk on his.

"oh, come on! did you just really take a joke this serious? i'm just kidding," soobin said as he was laughing all by himself. the other three were just looking at him, confused at the sudden taking back of what he said earlier. beomgyu just doesn't want to believe it was a joke.

'is he really joking or not? i don't get it. does he really like yeonjun hyung? i mean, anyone can like yeonjun hyung but i'm just really curious about soobin hyung. i don't know if should believe him and act as if it was all just a joke.' taehyun's mind was filled with thoughts.

and same goes with the group of friends' youngest, huening kai. 'it's been months since soobin became a friend of ours but i'm still not sure if i should believe him or not. he doesn't even look like he was joking, but he also doesn't look like he's serious. i'm so damn confused but whatever. i want them to date.'

beomgyu's mind was also filled with thoughts— no. his mind was filled with his own crazy opinion. 'i can't believe soobin hyung tried to deny it with a joke. they're dating. that's final. i know too damn well.'

meanwhile, yeonjun couldn't think clearly. his mind was busy thinking about what soobin said. mind full, expressions empty. he doesn't know what to feel. 'i should believe him. nothing's telling me otherwise anyway. i am simply his friend. besides, i don't actually like him romantically so i don't think i should even think about this. ugh, why did he even have to say that? i just know i wouldn't be able to sleep just thinking about this.'

but soobin.

soobin didn't take anything seriously. he can't really tell if there were actually jokes mentioned.
