He's in the Rain

chapter thirteen

"this is so awkward, what the heck," taehyun complained as they were walking down the streets. it's a bit different now that they've had another friend around. now that they're five, and now that they have soobin with them.

"talk to me, geez. i'm not gonna bite," soobin said and laughed at his own statement. the youngsters laughed with him as he said that, and yeonjun only chuckled. he's still not used to being with soobin, but now that he accepted him as one of his friends, might as well be comfortable with him. they're not gonna have any fun if they keep on being awkward with each other.

they were about to go to soobin's house and get his car. afterwards, they'll go grocery shopping and will go straight to the beach to have fun just for today. tomorrow is going to be another work day for all of them so it would be nice to just spend the day enjoying everything.

they all knew yeonjun wanted to rest today but majority wins as they say. all four boys were wanting to go to the beach and only yeonjun didn't. he then had no choice but to go with them. going to the beach may also be a great idea. it's not really sunny today but it isn't raining. maybe it will rain later but it may not be that heavy.

"rest for a while. i'll just get extra clothes from my room," soobin said as all five of them arrived at his house. soobin looked at the other boys with him and they were all doing the same: roaming their eyes around soobin's home. they were so amazed. it was too big of a house for one single person anyway. "you can sit here in the sofa. the kitchen is a few steps away so if you want to eat or drink something you can just go and get some."

"no, it's okay. we're still—," taehyun couldn't finish his sentence as beomgyu interrupted.

"okay, hyung! we promise not to leave your fridge open!" he said loudly and chuckled, making soobin chuckle as well. taehyun and yeonjun looked down at their feet, getting the second hand embarassment. well, food is food. if only they were really, really close now, the three would do the same thing. they're just not ready to be crazy yet.

after a few minutes, soobin was heard going downstairs. he was bringing a small bag with him, maybe his clothes are there. he was in a call when he was going down the stairs but no one heard the conversation during the call.

"i'm done. let's go!" soobin said as he ended the call and placed his phone on his pocket. the three boys stood up from the couch and went towards the door to go outside. beomgyu was left in the kitchen, drinking water.

"this dumb ass didn't even know how to clean," yeonjun whispered to taehyun and huening kai when he saw the wrapper of the chocolate beomgyu ate while soobin was upstairs.

"i'm sorry for the mess, hyung. hehe," beomgyu laughed awkwardly and apologetically.

"it's okay. i'll just ask auntie to clean it up for me. let's go now," soobin said and let beomgyu go outside first before him. he then closed the house door and went inside his car, following the other men.

"you had other people living in this house? i didn't see anyone, hyung," taehyun asked the older while he sat comfortably at the front passenger's seat. huening kai sat at the back, next to beomgyu and yeonjun. clearly there was no one they saw inside the house. even beomgyu, who probably saw half of soobin's house because he kept on roaming around, didn't see anyone in there.

"ah, yeah. she's probably in her room together with the other aunties since i was not around. i let them rest," soobin replied to the younger. the four men then found out how kind soobin was. since they don't know much about him yet, it's surprising to know something about him. he rarely talks about himself. he only tells something about him when asked.

the others just nodded like they were already satisfied with soobin's answer. the car was now moving and they're heading to get groceries for later. the car ride was just full of laughters, their voices, and the music played from their phones. most of the time they'll vibe to the song and sing along. only yeonjun was quiet, he kept on sparing a glance at soobin, who was driving the car.

when they arrived at the grocery store, they agreed to share on the money to be used in paying. they will surely use a lot, especially when they got their own baskets and started on different isles of the store. others went directly for the gummies and jellies, others went for the meat and other stuff for grilling, one went towards the ramen, and one went for the beers and some slightly alcoholic drinks.

taehyun finished quickly, and is now heading towards the cashier where they agreed to meet up after getting their own needs and wants. taehyun had meat, lettuce, soybean paste, and a small bottle of sesame oil. he also had plastic cups, chopsticks, and paper plates with him.

meanwhile, the other four men came to taehyun one by one. huening kai arrived first who was bringing a liter of soda with him. he was also holding a container of ice cream. yeonjun arrived next, holding packs of ramen with him. that's all he was holding. soobin arrived next with bottles of beer in his hands. lastly, beomgyu came with the sweets in his hands, including marshmallows. they immediately paid afterwards. they consumed money... again.

when they went back to soobin's car, they helped each other to place the grocery in the trunk of the car. after doing so, they went inside the car and drove off, heading to the beach.

surprisingly, soobin didn't know the directions to go to the beach they wanted to go to. luckily, taehyun was there. since he was seating in the passenger's seat in front, he just stated the directions and soobin followed. after half an hour, they have finally arrived.

as the car was parked, they slowly went out of the car, opening the trunk and carrying what they bought. they walked on the sand towards the small hut which served as a public cottage in this beach. they forgot to bring a mat for them to sit on the sand so they had no choice but to stay in the cottage.

"we'll just cook later. let's roam around for a while," yeonjun said and the maknaes — and beomgyu — went running in the sand. they're very near to the water so they folded their pants.

only soobin and yeonjun were left. the three were running around and splashing water on each other. but these two, they just chose to walk near the water rather than play. yeonjun was looking at the sky, but his eyes unexpectedly landed on soobin.

soobin was amazed. it was obvious based on his facial expressions. his eyes were shining just by looking at the water. does he really just love this kind of scenery.

"wow.." yeonjun was startled when soobin spoke. it was just a simple 'wow', but since they weren't talking, he was pretty startled. "it's so beautiful here.."

"it is." yeonjun said and soobin looked at him but immediately looked back at the sea again to admire it.

"i've never seen the sea this close," soobin said which made the older raise his eyebrows and widen his eyes in surprise. 'he's never been here?' yeonjun asked in his mind.

"it's my first time... and i'm here with you."
