CHAPTER 35

FIGHT

I woke up because I felt someone caressing my hair. I slowly opened my eyes and saw mom. She's smiling at me, there is this tenderness in her eyes.

I smiled as I greeted her, "good morning."

"I'm sorry about yesterday," she said. Bumalik na naman ang lungkot sa kanyang mga mata.

"Mom, what happened?" Hindi niya ako sinagot at ngumiti lamang siya ng tipid. Dahan dahan siyang umupo.

"Get ready now, you have an event in school, right?" Bumangon na rin ako.

She's avoiding my questions. Kahapon ko pa siya tinatanong kung ano ba ang nangyari pero wala akong makuhang kasagutan mula sa kanya.

"I'm okay, attend the event. Archer is going to play today, go and support him."

"But mom, I can stay. Archer would understand, and besides, it's already late. I bet the game was finished already."

"No, Aurora. I need to be alone. Just go and watch your c-cousin's play. I'll be fine." I was hesitant at first but I know I won't win over her.

"Are you sure?" Tumango siya at ngumiti. I know better, those smiles are fake, gloominess is filled in her eyes.

I was left with no choice, even if I want to be with her but if she wants alone time I'll give it.

"If that's what you want mom," I said and left her room.

I went to my room and got ready. Dinaanan ko pa ang aking ina sa kanyang kwarto ngunit wala siya doon.

I asked the habinis and the guards but no one saw her. Napabuntong hininga nalang ako at nagmadali nang sumakay sa karwahe.

I will arrive faster if I use the carriage. I'm late, really late. It's past lunch already and I'm hoping that I can at least catch up for the game even if it's just the last quarter.

I was walking mindlessly when I bumped into Melissa. "Why are you just now?" Tanong nito sa akin.

"How's the game?" Tanong ko naman pabalik. Nagsalubong ang kanyang mga kilay.

"Well, the game ended already. Bheithir won," sagot niya, ako naman ang nangunot ang noo.

"What do you mean?"

"Gryphon is in second place, they won against Unisus, and after that Bheithir and Gryphon had a game. Unfortunately, Bheithir won." Mahaba niyang paliwanag.

Tapos na ang laro? Ang bilis naman yata. Na tampal ko nalang ang noo ko.

"Bheithir is the champion then?" Tumango siya. Isn't that unfair?

Kakatapos palang ng lumaban ng Gryphon ay hinarap nila kaagad ang Bheithir?

I so hate myself for I was not able to watch their game.

"Let's go? They are playing on one of the booths." Pagkasabi niya noon ay wala sa sarili akong sumunod sa kanya.

"Hey." Lumapit kaagad sa akin si Harriet at hinila ako palayo kay Melissa. Nakita ko kung paano umirap ang huli. Hindi pa rin ba sila nag babati?

"Bakit ngayon ka lang? What happened to tita?" Ibinulong niya lang ang huling tanong niya.

Nag buntong hininga ako. "She's not fine, and she doesn't wanna talk about it."

Lumapit sa akin si Archer at nagtanong. "You okay?" I shrugged my shoulders.

"By the way, I'm sorry I wasn't able to watch you all play." Paghingi ko ng paumanhin sa kanilang tatlo.
