CHIMERA BALL
I'm getting ready for the ball tonight. I'm submerging my body in the bathtub and just contemplating the absurdity of life.
Up until now I still don't believe that this happened to me. I was living a normal life then, later on, I found out that I'm a sorcerer, how crazy is that?
I heard a knock. "Are you done, sweetheart ?" It's mom, I immediately went to the shower and rinsed myself.
I opened my bathroom door and I saw mom sitting on the end of my bed. She motioned for the Habinis to leave the both of us which they immediately oblige.
"Hey, come here." She motioned the seat on my vanity. I sat there and she went on my back.
I'm looking through her in the mirror and she seems fine. I can still see the sadness in her eyes but she looks more okay now than last night.
Did the two of them fix their problem?
Mom's drying my hair using a towel. "You're so beautiful," she complimented.
"Of course, I got your genes," I kid. She smiled lightly.
"I'll put makeup on you and I'll also fix your hair. How's that?"
"Sounds great," I exclaimed. She started putting things in my face and I'm enjoying it.
After some time she finished putting makeup on me and I looked at myself in the mirror. As I opened my eyes I gasped.
"Mom, are you a makeup artist?" I joked. The look is just minimal but my features were emphasized.
"Well," she said as she shrugged her shoulders that made me laugh. "I kind of learned how to put makeup on especially when I learned that I will have a daughter." My heart melted because of that. I just love her and it's making me teary-eyed.
"Oh no Aurora, your makeup will be ruined." Pinigilan ko ang sarili ko na maluha.
"I'm sorry, I haven't done this to you. I was busy in the mortal world and me and your dad forgot about our responsibilities to you." She hugged me from behind.
"No mom, yes I did get mad because you two were always busy but I understand." She kissed my temple.
"I wish we can be like this forever," she said as she let go of our hug.
There's this faint of sadness and fear in her eyes, again.
"We can be like this as long as we both want. You're my mom, forever and no one can take that away." Huminga siya ng malalim.
"Y-yeah. I'll fix your hair now." She brushed my hair as she lowly ponytail it and she curled the end. She also left some strand on my face, I'm loving this.
She brought out a box in her pocket and gave it to me. "Open it," she excitedly said.
I slowly opened it and I saw a Barrette Cheveux on it. Nilingon ko siya.
"Mom, it's beautiful," I said, making her smile. A genuine one.
I look at the pin again. It's a simple and thin vintage flower barrette decorated with gemstones and pearls.
"I used that when I attended my first ball and I want you to use that too." I got up and hugged her.
"Thanks, mom." She hugged me tighter.
I'm fully dressed already and I'm just waiting for Joaquin. Dad's beside me.
"You grew up so much," he commented.
"Are we going to cry? I'm attending a ball, It's not my wedding dad." Pang aasar ko. Mom and dad are weird.
"I might not be able to attend your wedding." Natahimik ako dahil sa sinabi niya.
