CHAPTER 39

THE TRUTH

I don't know why but my heart is beating so loud. I avoided my gaze to the Dalton's. I sat away from both of the families.

Dad stood up, the same as a while ago he still doesn't have any emotions on his face. "What is this all about Arthur? It's pretty late, do we have any problem?" Tito Cornelius asked, or should I call him dad now? I don't know. Up till now I still can't understand anything, except the fact that I'm not a Ferlim. I don't know what I should feel.

"Let m-me finish first. I-I made a big mistake, no it's a sin." His voice cracked a bit but he remained emotionless. Even if he did a horrible thing I'm still hurting seeing him like this. I know it's not easy for him but it doesn't change a thing though. I'm still angry. What he did is not acceptable. Whatever reason he has. Iniwas ko ang aking paningin sa kanya.

"What is this Arthur?" My real mother asked. Still confused, she looks at Mommy Emiline. But mom can't look at my real mother straight from the eyes.

"Remember that time when you and Emiline gave birth at the same time?" My fake dad asked my mom, Amanda.

Honestly, I want to end the story telling already and just tell them that I'm their daughter. But I let him do his thing.

Para na rin malinawan ako sa kung paanong lahat ito ay nangyari. He then started his story.

Emeline is so excited because her cousin, Amanda will arrive any minute from now. Considering that they are both pregnant and soon to give birth.

Amanda and Cornelius on the other hand are on their way to the Ferlim's residence when Amanda felt a pain in her stomach. "Ahh," she said as she held her bump. Cornelius' face was filled with worries.

"Are you okay?" he asked. Amanda smiled and assured her husband. "Yeah, Celestine just kicked hard. There's nothing to worry about. I think she's excited to go out," They both laugh at what Amanda said.

Dumukwang si Cornelius at inilapit ang kanyang ulo sa malaki nang tiyan ng kanyang asawa. "Don't give your mommy a hard time," he said.

The one-year-old Archer on the other hand is sleeping peacefully beside them.

After the long ride, they arrive safely at the Ferlim's.

Sunalubong sila agad ng mag asawang Arthur at Emeline. "I'm so glad you arrived already. I'm knitting some clothes for Aurora," Emeline showed what she's doing to Amanda.

"This is so cute, this would be good on her," they both giggled at what Amanda said.

But it's time for Cornelius to say goodbye. He has some business to attend to and Amanda would be staying at the Ferlim's palace until he'll get back.

"I'm sorry for bothering the both of you. I just can't leave my wife and son alone with Amanda's state," he said. Arthur didn't think about it as a bother. Instead, he's very happy about it.

"Don't think too much about it, it's not a bother at all. Besides, Emiline is excited to spend time with Amanda."

Nilapitan ni Cornelius ang kanyang asawa upang mag paalam. As much as it pained him to leave his pregnant wife, he had some important things to do. "I need to go now, you take care," he said to his wife. Kinausap din nito si Archer at ang bata sa sinapupunan ng kaniyang asawa.

"Don't worry too much, we're okay. Finish your business early so that you can go home before I gave birth," she assured him.

Cornelius kissed her wife before he rode the carriage. Amanda and Archer both wave at him as he's ascending.
