CHAPTER 21

EXPLOSION 

"Melissa." I softly uttered when they got near us. Confusion is evident on my face. She looked at me and gave me her sweetest smile.

"Aurora." She said with so much excitement in her voice. I don't know what I would feel. She's just smiling at me and I can't even smile back.

She never mentioned that the headmistress is her mom. I let out all of my frustrations to the headmistress on her, for god's sake.

I never heard a thing or so.

"I assume you already know my daughter. You're roommates." I tried to calm myself and smiled at Miss Laura.

"Of course, but she never mentioned that you're her mom." There's a lot of thoughts running in my mind.

"Oh, is that so? She's really like that. She wants to keep everything in private." Tipid na lamang akong ngumiti. I looked at Joaquin but there were no emotions in his eyes.

He's looking at me blankly. I want to compliment him on his looks but I can't. Why do I feel like I was betrayed?

Ngumiti ako sa kanya just to ease the tension but he didn't smile back. My heart clenched because of that.

"Just look at the two of you. You look good together." Joaquin's mom blurted out all of a sudden. At itinuro si Joaquin at Melissa. Melissa on the other hand smiled.

"I know Emiline." Miss Laura said and laughed. I don't know what to do. Mom pulled me on her side a little.

"Excuse me for a while po." Paalam ko at tumalikod na sa kanila. Hindi ko na sila hinintay pang sumagot.

I left the hall. Lumabas ako at naglakad lakad. I need some fresh air. Dinala ako ng aking mga paa sa hardin.

There's a fountain here. Pinagmasdan ko nalang ito. I'm thinking about the things that happened today. All the revelations.

I want to sink them in my mind but my brain is rejecting all the information. I can't process it.

Parang kailan lang noon namumuhay ako ng normal sa mundo ng mga tao. Then all of a sudden I got here and my life changes. My boring life was turned upside down.

"Aurora." I heard Melissa called me. Nilingon ko naman siya. I smiled weakly.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. It's just that I don't want you to treat me differently." Pag umpisa niya. Hindi ako nagsalita, hinihintay kong magpatuloy siya.

"All the problems that I was facing, it's true. I haven't told you yet but I'm willing to. I was just fixing some things that is why I haven't been around these few days." Lumapit naman siya sa akin.

"I'm really sorry." She said sincerely. Nginitian ko na siya. She has her reasons, I should just understand her. Kasi ako rin naman. I kept something from her and it took me a while before I decided that I will tell her the truth.

"Ahm, If you have questions I can answer them." Inilingan ko siya. Sa dinami-dami ng iniisip ko hindi ko na alam kung ano pa ang itatanong ko sa kanya.

"How are you?" She asked again.

"I'm okay, there'a just a lot on my plate right now." Hinawakan niya ang kamay ko at pinisil.

"I'm here." Hindi ulit ako nagsalita. I'm not in my right mind. I'm super tired that I don't even know what to say or how to react.

"Let's talk some other time then." I told her. Not now. I need to let things sink in first.

"Balik na tayo?" Pag aaya ko. Tumango naman siya at sumunod sa akin.

Hindi pa kami naka lalayo ay may tanong ulit siya na nagpatigil sa akin.
