Amity's POV
I stared at the ceiling... The idea of me becoming queen.... It scared me... My parents death was so sudden, and the twins made it clear they wanted to live the simple life of a townie with they're wife and husband.. So the thorn was left to me...
Knocking at the door made me wince. Who could be knocking this late at night? Sitting up in my bed, I could see the dim light of the sun peeking through the velvet curtains. It was morning..
"Princesse Amity!" Harry called from the other side of the door. "May I come in?"
I gently rubbed my eyes before replying; "Yes. You can come in." I yawned.
The older man opened the door and stepped in. Harry had been my parents most trusted advisor... He was like family, along with his son, Leroy.
"Good morning Princesse Amity, or shall I say Queen Amity?" Harry said with a light chuckle, amusement glinted in his amber eyes.
Gently shaking my head with a light chuckle. Throwing the blanket off my legs and turning to sit on the side of my bed. "I'm no queen Harry. At least not yet." Stretching out my arms, my shoulders and knuckles popped under the pressure of my stretch. Looking over at the older man, I smiled. "Will Edric and Emira going to be here?"
Harry's smile slowly faded to a frown. "Not exactly..." I didn't like the sound of his tone. The older man made his way over and took a seat beside me. "Not in the way you want. They'll be in the crowd, but they won't be joining you on the balcony..."
A hint of disappointment jabbed at my heart. I knew they wouldn't join me... But it was a dream... "That's what I get for getting my hopes up. They were never keen on responsibilities... Nobody could ever convince them to become queen or king..." I chuckled dryly. In my heart I didn't want it to be true... But I knew it was.
Harry nodded slightly before standing up. "Well. Leroy is getting everything for your coronation ready. I'll send some of the designers in to help you get ready." His gaze softened as he stared at my hair. "Do you plan to keep it teal?"
I blinked at the advisor for a few seconds before meeting my own gaze in the mirror. My own golden gaze looked dull and lonely. Then glancing at my teal hair. I didn't respond at first, trying to find the right words. All I was able to respond with was a light shrug. "I dunno... Maybe." I shuddered at the memory of mom forcing me to dye it. "It would be nice to have my brown hair back... It would be a nice memory of dad.."
I always liked dad more. He wasn't as strict as mom. Sure he was a little rough around the edges, but when he wasn't busy with being king he always tried to make time for me and the twins.
Harry nodded. "You're father would've been proud." He grinned. Carefully, he tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I could see his eyes growing glassy and his voice cracked. I knew he was just as hurt about my parents passing as me.
Suddenly the door swung open, causing me and Harry to flinch. Blinking at the door, stood Leroy with his black hair slicked back and a clipboard in hand.
"You, make sure Captain Rex has security doubled. You, make sure Chef Mike has every chef working." Leroy continue shouting commands until every worker was gone. His green gaze locked onto me and his father. "Father! Why is she not ready! We're on a strict schedule!" He shouted.
Harry sighed and stood up. "Leroy. Calm down. Amity-"
Leroy was quick to cut his father off. "Princesse Amtiy! Better yet Queen Amity! Or at least she will be if we stick to the schedule!" Hissed Leroy.
Joining Harry, I met Leroy's gaze evenly. "Leroy. Calm down. We have all day." I said calmly.
Leroy narrowed his eyes and let out a deep and irritated sigh. "Yes Princesse. Sorry. I'm just very stressed."
