Audrey's POV

The cot was cold. Though I couldn't see the Elena, I could feel her looking at my eyes.

"And how long have you've been like this?" Elena's warm and silky voice asked.

"I don't know.. I lost count of how many days I was with them.. But they did it the first day I arrived." I muttered, clenching my fists.

"So can you help her?" Mom's voice carried through the room.

I heard footsteps walking away so I assume they're Elena's.

"I'm afraid not.." Elena sighed. "The cuts have already ruined her eyes.. I doubt I could've helped her when she had just gotten them."

I growled. "I'm blind, not deaf, if you have something to say about my condition I deserve to know!"

I felt someone touch my shoulder, then mother spoke. "Honey you might be to young too understand this.."

I wrinkled my nose and pushed her hand away. "Too young?" I echoed. "IM THE ONE WHO IS DEALING WITH THIS AND IM TOO YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ME?" I growled. "I WAS KIDNAPPED AND BLINDED I DESERVE TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!"

Mother's breath began to waver.. She wasn't sure what to think... Then her breath grew quick. "Young lady you will not yell at me like that! If I tell you you're too young, THEN YOUR TOO YOUNG!" She snapped. Her breath slowed and then I didn't hear her breath. I reached out and didn't feel her, and could hear footsteps walking away. "See to it that Amyra or Aubrey helps her to her room."

I growled, reached over to my nightstand, grabbed the first thing and threw it... It smashed against a wall.

Elena sighed. "Audrey, i know you're upset, but you don't need to go around smashing bottles."

I looked away, well, at least I think I did, I wasn't sure where the doctor was. I stood up. "I'm leaving."

"Not without someone to guide you!" Elena reminded me.

"Watch me!" I hissed, and began to walk off. It didn't take long for me to crash into the door frame. "I knew that was there!" I hissed.

"Mmhmm."

"Hey. Audrey- Oh hey!" Aubrey's voice made me jump.

"Oh hey Aubrey." I mumbled. "Where's Amyra? I wanna talk."

Aubrey sighed. "Ah. Sorry Audrey, but Amyra can't talk at the moment. She's in a meeting with Luz and them, trying to come up with a strategy." He grabbed my hand, it was soft. "Come on! Mom told me to lead you to your room."

I jerked my hand away. "I don't need help!"

Aubrey's voice softened. "No of course not. But for the time being, you're still trying to get used to this new world."

I looked down. He's right... And I know he is. "It's not fair.." I muttered. "You get to see all the beauty in the world and all I see in black." I whispered.

Aubrey pulled me into a hug. "I know..." He sighed. "But it'll get better... Promise."

I smiled. "Thank you Aubrey..."

The past three days were miserable.. I'm still not use to the castle, and now I have some meeting with this blind guy who can help me.

I flinched hearing a knock on the door. Though judging by the harder knocking, it was Luz. I stood up and made my way to the door. At least I knew my room by heart. I pulled open the door. "Luz?"

"How'd you know?" Luz asked.

"You have a lighter knock than mom and Amyra but a heavier knock than Amity and Aubrey." I explained.

Luz chuckled and ruffled my hair. "Clever!"

I shooed her hand away. "Stop." I paused hearing clicking of claws. "Wait what is that?"

Luz grabbed my wrist and pulled it to her, flipped it, opened it and placed something rope like in the middle of my palm.

"This is Blaze. He's a guide dog.. He'll guide you around, make sure you don't run into something.."

"How do I know he won't get distracted by a squirrel or something." I asked skeptically.

Luz chuckled. "He won't. He was trained very well. Just for you." I could hear her shuffling in front of me, then I heard crunching.

"I can find my own way around." I half growled half sighed.

"Maybe in the castle, but what happens when you go out in town? Things in town change often." Luz told me, I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Just give it a chance. Queen's order." Her voice had a teasing tone to it.

"Ugh. Fine." I grumbled, jerking my hand away from Luz, I heard a yelp. "Sorry Blaze." I muttered.

"Audrey." Now I could hear a edge in Luz's voice. "I get you're upset about this, but what else can we do! Elena already said that healing you was impossible, and there's no healing spells, all you can do is adjust to your new world! Amyra risked a lot to save you, and now you're being a jerk to us over something we can't control."

I clenched my fist. "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO HAVE SIGHT AND THEN LOSE IT ALL IN ONE DAY!" I yelled.

I couldn't see Luz's face, but assuming by her gasp, she wasn't expecting me to lash out.

I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. "Now everyone sees me as weak! All because I can't see...."

I felt Luz place a hand on my shoulder. "I don't see you as weak."

"Yeah? Well you just gave me a dog so I could find my way around." I reminded her quite harshly.

"I gave you Blaze so you could adjust to your new blindness, not because I see you as weak." Luz told me.

I felt tears roll down my cheeks. "Then... Then why do so many people want to help me when-"

Now both hands were on my shoulders. "It's called love Audrey. Everyone wants to help you because they love you, not because they think your weak. I mean, just yesterday you tripped over a rug." She reminded me, a hint of laughed in her voice.

A smile cracked on my face. "Yeah.. I remember.. It hurt.."

"And then you lashed out at Amyra for trying to help you."

The smile disappeared. "Yeah... I did.."

"You're not weak... We all know that.. I mean your the only one who can beat me in sword fighting..."

"I used to you mean."

"If you keep thinking like that then yeah it does make you weak!" Luz snapped. "If you let your blindness define you, then yeah, you're weak, but if you don't let it define you, then you're strong."

I let go of Blaze and hugged Luz tightly. I dug my face in Luz's shoulder and just sobbed...
