Amity's POV

Today was the today.. Or at least, hopefully the day, Luz woke up. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.

"Morning Amity!" I heard a familiar voice.

I groaned. "What do you want Jesse?" I grumbled.

The assassin stood beside me, before sitting down on the railing. "Just coming to see what my favorite girl is doing." They teased.

I rolled my eyes, "oh, I'm you're favorite?" I growled.

Jesse placed their hand on my cheek making me look up at them. "Of course you are." They flirted.

I raised an eyebrow. I hated to admit it but the assassin had a certain charm to them. I grinned and sighed. "I hate it that you can actually make me smile."

Jesse let go of me. "That's what I do princess." They laughed.

"I still hate you." I muttered.

Jesse shrugged, "I thought so." They chuckled.

I tried my best not to make eye contact with the assassin even though their red eyes had became a lot less scary as we talked more.

"So what will your girlfriend think of me." Jesse asked.

I shrugged. "I dunno. She's probably going to be pissed, especially since you did stab her." I pointed out.

Jesse looked away. "Ehhhhhh. She was an assassin, she'll understand." They chuckled.

"Uh-Huh. Sure..." I growled.

"Jesse!" I could hear one of the guards call.

Jesse stuck their tongue out. "Gross, my babysitter is calling." They muttered.

"He's not your babysitter, he's here to make sure you don't get into trouble." I corrected.

"Which is the exact same thing a babysitter does." They shrugged.

I began to argue, but instead I scowled and covered my face. I hated that they were right..

Jesse sighed. "Alright. See ya later princess. Have fun with your girlfriend." They muttered as they jumped down and walked off.

I gave a gentle wave to the assassin as they walked off. The sun shimmered down on to town.

There wasn't much to do as of right now. "Amity."

I looked back at Willow. "What's up?" I asked. I paused. "Is Luz awake!"

The medic shook her head. "Not yet. But me and Elena need to go buy some new medicine. I needed to ask if you'd sit with Luz?" She muttered.

I blinked at her for a moment before nodding. "Yea, of course."

In the distance, I could hear Asher, the guard who I assigned to watch over Jesse, yelling at Jesse. I wrinkled my nose trying to tune out his yelling.

Willow gave me that unsure glance she always did. "Are you sure letting him-"

"Them. Jesse is non-binary." I corrected her.

She hesitated but nodded. "Are you sure letting, THEM, walk around the castle is safe?" She asked.

"Asher's a good knight, he can watch them just fine." I muttered.

"Yeah... But he... They, tried to kill you." She corrected herself.

"So did Luz and now look where we are.." I pointed out.

Willow looked away and sighed. "Fair... You tend to make good friends with people who try to kill you."

I shrugged. "Yeah? Well, at least I know who to go to if I want to die."
