Luz's POV
I stepped in the room. I glanced around noticing that Amity wasn't here. I looked over at the windows. Amity was standing one the balcony.
Casually, I opened the door to the balcony. Amity looked back at me. She dropped her gaze and looked back out at the kingdom.
I had an odd feeling something was up, so I walked over and stood beside her. We didn't talk. Maybe it was for the best. Amity looked pretty upset.
Finally, I spoke, "hey... You okay?"
Amity shrugged. "I dunno.... It's just... Everyone is buzzing about how you'll be the next queen.. and...you don't even want to be queen... I never got to be queen of my home." She muttered. "I was nearly killed..."
"But you wouldn't have met me if it didn't happen.." I whispered.
She nodded. "I know... But still." She muttered. She looked at me. "It's just hard watching someone who doesn't even want to be a queen live out that dream..." she chuckled dryly.
I wasn't sure how to comfort her. To be honest.. I forgot she was supposed to be a queen..
I turned to her. "Hey. If things work out.. The we can be queens together.." I smiled at her. Even though I hated the idea of being queen.. It would make things easier if I had Amity by my side.
Amity smiled at me, though it didn't feel real.
"Amity you know you can be honest with me.." I said.
Her smile faded as she nodded. "I know. But I. I just.. I didn't want to make it about me.. After all we're in your kingdom.. It's about you.." she sighed.
I blinked at her. "Oh Amity. You should never have to think like that. Your feelings matter to me." I said.
"Um. I don't mean to interrupt." I whipped around to see the royal advisor.
"Kane? Do you need something?" I asked, kinda irritated...
"Me and your mother need to talk to you..." He looked over at Amity. "I hope you don't mind me stealing her for a bit.." he asked.
Amity shrugged. "Um... sure.."
I looked at Amity and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead. "This conversation isn't over." I whispered.
I turned away from the princess and followed after Royal advisor. Our foot steps echoed through the halls. I won't lie.. I was getting nervous. I clenched my fist as we walked.
We kept walking until we stopped in front of a door, which I recognized as the throne room. My heart stopped. Why were we here...
"The King and Queen are waiting for you." Said the royal advisor. He pushed open the doors.
Time felt as if it was slowed down as I walked in.. I could see two thrones. They were being redecorated with teal greens and purples. I looked at my mom and Kage who were standing by the window.
"Uh. Mom... Kage.. You needed me?" I asked nervously. I prayed silently it wasn't what I thought it was.
Mom walked up to be, a big smile on her face. "Oh.... Luz, eres tan fuerte y..." Mom began crying before she could finish.
This only fueled my nervousness. Why was Mom saying that?
Kage placed in hand on Mom's shoulder. His ruins and Mom's ruins glowed, reminding me the two were soulmates... "What your mother is trying to say is... We think.. It's time.. You became Queen..."
Time froze. I could barely hear anything. I could see Kage's mouth moving... But I couldn't hear anything. I began panicking. I could barely breathe. I started coughing in an effort to breathe. My lungs begged for air, if felt like I was drowning!
"KANE GET A MEDIC!"
I shuddered. It was cold. I blinked open my eyes. I could see light beaming through the windows. My whole body ached, though I wasn't sure why... I went to sit up, but I couldn't move.
Across the room I could see Mom, Kage, my siblings and everyone else there. Willow was the first to notice I was awake.
"LUZ!" She rushed over, nearly tripping over nothing. "How are you feeling.." She asked.
"Hurting..." I muttered through gritted teeth.
"Yeah... You had a panic attack from what the doctor says... She gave you some medicine to help with it..." she explained briefly, until the doctor came in.
"Yes.. I did. The medicine is the only kind to help with panic attacks so it's not the best.. It can cause some pain... Do you feel any pain?" Asked the doctor.
I fought back tears. "Yes! Every muscle in my body hurts." I grunted.
The doctor nodded and scribbled it down on paper. "I suspected so... Has this panic attack thing ever happened before?"
I barely shook my head. Every movement I made was agonizing pain.
The doctor let out a sigh of relief. "Alright. It was probably just stress then in that moment.." She gave me a light smile. "I'm Dr.Elena. I'm sure you've met my daughter Amyra. She's training to be a Knight under my wife's training."
I nodded slightly. "Yeah.. I've met her." I grunted. "She and Audrey are close." I laughed slightly, pain surged through me as I laughed.
The doctor must have noticed me shifting with pain. "Alright." She walked over to the others. "Everyone wake up! No visitors right now. Luz is hurting and she needs rest."
Mom opened her eyes. "Wait! She's awake!"
Dr.Elena nodded. "Yes. But you can visit her in a bit. She's in pain and needs rest."
Kage nodded and stood up, having to forcibly drag Mom out of the room.. She really didn't want to go. Gus shared a glance with Boscha but the two walked out. Both shooting a worried glance back at me.
Amity hesitated. She ran past Dr.Elena who was caught of guard. She had nearly reached me before Willow grabbed her.
"WILLOW! Stop!" Amity growled. "Let me go."
Willow tightened her grip. "Dr.Elena said she needs rest."
"WILLOW YOU'RE HURTING ME!" Amity snapped.
Willow shook her head and began to drag her away. Amity grunting in pain. I didn't doubt that Willow was hurting her. Willow had a strong grip, though I don't think she realizes how strong.
Suddenly.. I was alone with the doctor. I wanted to roll over to be more comfortable, but every movement was pain that I couldn't handle.
Dr.Elena walked over. "Hey. Rest.. Get some sleep. The side effects of the medicine will ware off soon.."
