Amyra's POV

I placed my dagger down on the table-it had a slight bit of blood on it. It's not like I'd be gone for long. I walked over to my desk and took a seat. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. I began to write, the light from my lantern illuminating the tent.

It was deadly silent, so quiet you could hear every stroke my pen made. Outside my tent I could hear the light snoring of King. It made me wonder if Audrey missed me.. Probably... Knowing her she was probably going to fuss at me for not telling her I was leaving before the day came.

"Whatcha thinking about."

The sudden and random voice made me flinch hard enough to slam my elbow into my chair's arm. I looked behind me seeing Raya. Her eyes were as wide as saucers, like she wasn't expecting me to flinch so hard.

"W-what are you doing awake?" I asked, standing up. I looked around on my desk and covered my writing with a separate piece of paper.

Raya crossed her arms. "I could ask you the same question." She snarked.

"I'm writing. You're sneaking around outside of my tent!' I snapped. It came out a little harsher than I meant to though.

Raya's gaze looked around my tent before spotting my slightly blood covered dagger. She looked back at me and gazed at me up and down. Her eyes caught on my bandaged wrapped wrist. She stepped forward, grabbed my wrist and yanked it to her.

"Hey!" I growled and tried to pull my wrist away, but the older women had a strong grip on my wrist. She was only 21, but had a surprisingly strong grip.

Raya ignored my protest and unwrapped my wrist. Her face contorted with horror, shocked and many more emotions seeing my bloodied wrist. She stared at me. "What did you.. Why." All the color in her face drained and her gripped loosened-I jerked my wrist away.

"None of your business!" I hissed, wrapping my wrist back up. "Besides it's not a big deal..." I had gotten used to seeing blood.. Even my own.

"Leroy asked you to do it didn't he!" Raya's face went from horror and shcok to anger.

I rolled my eyes. "No he didn't." Someone else did.. The words rang in the back of my mind. "Besides it's just a bit of blood. I thought you of all people would understand." I scoffed.

The past week, Raya had kinda taken me under her wing and taught me a few things about healing. She was like an older sister.

I turned away and grabbed the rubbing alcohol from my desk and soaked a bit of a rag.

"Do you want me-" Raya must have noticed the rubbing alcohol because her breath changed from semi quick to slow. "That's why you asked for the extra bottle of rubbing alcohol." She gasped. "You asked me for that 4 days ago! How long has then been going on!?"

I looked back at the healer. "Do the math. I asked for it 4 days ago. I started wearing bandages 4 days ago." I'll admit I shouldn't be so harsh, the healer was only trying to help. I carefully unwrapped my bandages and prepared myself as I pressed the rag against my wound. The pain shot through my wrist, I took in a sharp breath, holding back a yelp of pain.

"I don't understand why.. Why would you do that to yourself?" Raya's voice was shaky.

I shrugged helplessly. I couldn't tell her. Once I finished cleaning the wound, I dropped in in the bucket of water beside my desk, closed the rubbing alcohol, and wrapped my wrist back up.

"I was planning on leaving tonight. Go back to Cordova." I muttered, more so to myself than Raya.

"Leaving?" She echoed.

I nodded. "I was going to leave a letter saying I had to go back.. Something important happened."

"Are you still going to go?"

I shrugged. "Too late now." I muttered.

I felt Raya place her hand on my shoulder. "No it's not. Go. I'll cover for you."

I looked up at the healer. "Really?" I gasped.

She nodded. "I can help you pack."

I shook my head. "Not necessary." I grabbed the rubbing alcohol and stuck it in my bag. I pushed my way out of the tent. "I packed earlier." I whispered. "It's in my saddle bag." I stepped to the tree branch where I left the saddle and tacked King up.

"What about your dagger? Isn't it important to you?"

I nodded. "Yeah. Sorta, but if I leave it here they'll think I left in more of a rush. Keep a look on it please."

Raya nodded.

A light illuminated from a tent.. Leroy's tent.

Fear lit up in Raya's eyes. "Go!" She hissed.

I hesitated. "I don't want you to get in trouble."

Raya gave King a pop on the hindquarters. King let out a loud neigh and began to run, nearly knocking me off. I looked back at Raya.

"GOOD LUCK!" She called.

I nodded and turned my attention back to the road.
