Your POV

I had been feeling really low for months, I had slowly stopped eating and had started self harming. Mom was always away on cases, I stayed with Penelope when mom was away, but she was busy a lot helping the team, so she didn't notice me spiral. I needed to talk to someone...I just didn't know who.

I had decided to go to the BAU after school, I wasn't going to talk to mom, but I knew Emily would let me talk to her, she was always like a second mom to me. It had been ages since I had seen her. Would she notice that I had lost weight? Would she care?

I got out of the lift at the BAU. I saw Emily right away, I quickly ran inside and went running to her desk. "Hey Emily" I smiled.

Emily looked up at me slightly flustered. "Oh hey y/n, everything okay?"

I looked at the floor quickly and started biting my lip. "Actually, I was wondering if we could talk?"

Emily got up quickly gathering her things. "Oh honey, I would but we have a case"

I sighed. "Oh, okay, never mind."

I went to walk away and Emily slowly grabbed my arm. I turned round feeling hopeful for the first time in a long time. "Your mom's still in her office if you wanna go talk to her."

I gently pulled my arm from Emily's grip. "Nah, that's okay, it wasn't anything important."

Before Emily could say anything else I quickly left the BAU.

Emily's POV

I watched as y/n ran to the lift and out of sight. Something definitely wasn't right. I turned to look into JJ's office, seeing her hastily gathering her things. I made my way to her office, knocking on the door.

"Hey Jayje, you got a sec?"

JJ looked up at me, looking slightly frazzled. "Aren't we supposed to be on the jet?"

I smiled at her. "Yeah, but can we walk and talk?"

JJ nodded at me. "Yeah, sure"

We quickly left the office and made our way to the jet. "JJ, I'm worried about y/n, she seems really down."

JJ waved me off. "Don't worry about her Em, she's okay, she's a teenager, they're always like this."

I stopped in front of her. "No, Jennifer, teenagers aren't always like this, I've seen this before, with my frien-"

JJ looked mad. "Emily, y/n is not your friend! So stop ok?!" JJ pushed passed me and made her way to the jet.

I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes and followed her onto the jet.

Your POV

It had been a week since I had tried to talk to Emily. I had decided I wasn't going to try and talk to anyone, I was just going to end it, but not before giving Emily my favourite ring, I wanted her to have something special, so that she would remember me when I was gone, hopefully without hating me.

I got out the lift at the BAU, the only person I saw was Emily, so I made my way over to her. Emily looked up at me and smiled. "Hey sweetie, how're you?"

I smiled weakly back. "I'm okay, where is everyone?" I looked around but couldn't see anyone.

Emily smiled again. "They had places to go, I wanted to catch up with work, what's up?"

I started getting flustered. "Oh, nothing, it doesn't matter"

I turned to leave but again Emily stopped me by grabbing my arm.

"Y/n, what is it?"

I reached into my backpack and pulled out my ring, dropping it into her hand. "I just wanted you to have that."

Emily looked down at it and I took the opportunity to make my way to the lift. She quickly followed behind me and stood in front of the lift. "Sweetie come with me, we're gonna go into your mom's office and talk okay?"

Emily noticed the scared look on my face. "Don't worry your mom isn't here."

I followed Emily to mom's office and quietly sat down, Emily taking the seat next to me. Emily gently held my hand.

I don't know why, but I started to cry. "I'm sorry Emily." Emily gently wiped the tears from my eyes.

"Hey, you have nothing to be sorry for"

I looked up at her not believing a word. "Yes I do, I'm a screw up! I can't do anything right!"

Emily pulled me closer to her. "You young lady, are not a screw up! You are a beautiful and intelligent young woman, and we all love you SO much!"

I pulled away slightly. "You guys are always so busy...and my mom...when she is home...it's like she's there...but she's not....sometimes I think she would be better off without me..."

Emily had tears gathering in her eyes. "Baby, nobody would be better off without you, especially your mother, you're her everything...everything she does is for you."

I looked up at her. "You know why I gave you that ring don't you?"

Emily nodded sadly. "Yeah honey, I do." Emily gestured to her necklace. "You see this necklace?" You nodded. "My friend Caitlin gave me this necklace. I was 11 years old, this was her favourite necklace, I was so happy when she gave it to me, I had always wanted one like hers. The next day...I went to go see her, she'd skipped school, when I got there I found her in the bath tub, she had cut her wrists and bled out...the necklace, was her way of saying goodbye."

I nodded. "Emily I just...I really wanna die...I haven't been eating...I've been cutting."

Emily held me tighter. "How long sweetheart?"

I held Emily tighter, as if she was my life line. "A few months..."

Emily looked at me. "I will always be here to help you! No matter what! I'm glad you came to me, but we do have to tell your mom"

I nodded. "Will you be with me when I do?"

Emily kissed my head. "There's no other place I'd rather be"
