Your POV
I loved the times when mom wasn't away on a case. I didn't mind staying with Garcia, but there were times when I just wanted mom. I had started to really like this girl in my year at school and I didn't know how to handle it, I wanted to tell mom but I just didn't know how.
I had been closed off with mom for awhile and very short tempered, I never left my phone lying around and when I would get a text or a call I would quickly leave the room. I didn't want mom to get a glimpse of my phone. I knew mom knew something was up with me, but she didn't press the issue, knowing I would go to her when I was ready. I knew that she knew I was the same with Garcia when she was away on a case, she had wanted to get Garcia to hack my phone and find out what was going on, but mom knew it would be wrong to do that and she'd let me come to her when I was ready.
Weeks had gone by since then and I just became more and more secretive. I would take my phone everywhere, even to the bathroom, my phone would always be in my hand, or with in reach of me. I could tell by the look on Emily's face that she had had enough of it. One day she confronted me about it.
I was making my way to the front door, ready to meet up with my friend, when Emily stood in the way of the door with her hands on her hips. I only wished she had been away on a case. Like seriously, are the serial killers on holiday or something?!
"Okay y/n, what's going on?" She stood in front of me eyebrows raised.
I looked at my feet. "Nothing, don't know what you're talking about."
Emily huffed. "Don't give me that! You've become distant with me, also, you never let your phone out of your sight and you've become pretty secretive over who you've been texting, I want to know what's going on with you."
I rolled my eyes, knowing how much she hated when I did that.
"Nothing's going on, I'm a teenager, we're glued to our phones."
Emily took a step closer to me, with me taking a step back. "Honey, I know something's bothering you, I've been waiting for you to come to me for weeks, but you haven't...please talk to me, I know I'm away a lot but please...whatever it is, I'll support you."
I sighed and went to sit on the couch, the couch dipped moments later.
"It's nothing bad...well at least I don't think it's bad?"
I looked up at Emily and she smiled at me. "Whatever it is you can tell me, I won't judge, I'll support you no matter what."
My hands started to sweat....it was now or never. "I....ermm.I...I like girls..."
I looked at mom and she sat there staring at me blankly. I didn't know what to do, when all of a sudden mom started laughing.
I quickly stood up. "What the hell mom?!"
Emily calmed down, shaking her head, stood up and took my hand gently in hers. "I'm sorry baby, I'm not laughing at you, it's just you realise I like girls too right?"
I nodded. "Yeah, you like JJ."
Mom sat with her mouth hanging open. "How..."
This time it was my turn to laugh. "Oh my god mom, it's so obvious, she likes you too, so stop being so scared and ask her out already!"
Emily smiled. "I don't care if you like girls, I love you no matter what, is it a girl you were going to meet?"
I nodded. "Yeah, she's really cool."
Emily gently pushed me towards the door. "Okay, go, hey one last thing."
I turned and looked at mom. "Yeah?"
Emily grinned. "At least I don't have to worry about you coming home and telling me your pregnant."
I groaned and made my way to the front door, before turning back to mom. "Hey mom?"
Emily looked up at me. "Yeah honey?"
I grinned. "At least I won't have to worry about you telling me I'm having a little brother or sister."
I laughed as Emily sat in shock, leaving the house and silently closing the door behind me.
