But 16 or 17 years later, the girl starts working on the set as a hairdresser or something and melwood find out she's their daughter who has basically been through hell)

Your POV

I was 16 years old and had grown up knowing that I was adopted...I didn't know anything about my birth parents. My adoptive family hated me, I had no idea why. I always thought the whole point of adopting a child was to love them...Obviously not...

I was excited though, I was a big fan of the TV show Supergirl and there was a part time position on the show, they needed someone on set to help set everything up in between takes. I got in touch and had gotten the job.

When I told my friends everyone was excited. For some reason everybody thought I looked like Melissa Benoist but I couldn't see it. People always joked that maybe Melissa was my birth mother, I couldn't help but laugh at that too.

I was also happy because it got me away from my adoptive parents, the only reason they agreed to me working there is because I promised I would give them my money.

When I got to the set I was a bag of nerves. I was met at the door by Chyler Leigh. Chyler smiled and extended her hand to me. "Hi I'm Chyler, nice to meet you." I smiled and shook her hand. "I'm Y/n, I'm here for - " Chyler cut me of laughing. "I know, you're here for the new job."

I nodded and followed Chyler onto set. "So you excited?" I couldn't help but grin. "Yeah...I'm such a big fan of the show! Alex is my favourite character though." Chyler turned to me, giving me a high five.

She showed me to the people I would be working with and told me she would see me later. I smiled and waved and then got to work, helping set up.

Once everything was set up the director told me I could stay and watch them film.

It was so exciting watching the cast film! I loved it! Melissa and Chris were making their way towards me when I heard my adoptive parents behind me. "Y/N! COME ON! YOU'RE LATE ENOUGH AS IT IS!"

I couldn't help but jump. Everyone looked at me curiously...It was my first day and already my adoptive parents were messing things up for me. I sighed and walked over towards them.

Melissa's POV

As soon as I heard their voices I looked to them and gasped. I looked back at Chris and saw the same look on his face...The look of recognition...They were the couple that we gave our baby girl to...16 years ago...we named her Y/n...which means that young girl timidly walking over to them was our little girl...

I quickly ran over to them and got in the middle...I didn't like the way they were looking at her.

"Hi, I'm Melissa, we were all going to go out for a meal, to celebrate Y/n's first day on the job, she's done fantastic! So if it's okay with you, we'll drop her back after?"

They looked like they wanted to argue, but I knew they wouldn't. They both rolled their eyes. "Fine! Whatever!"

They walked off before I could say anything else. I turned to Y/n and she burst into tears. I quickly pulled her into a hug and she cried into my shoulder. I looked at Chris and he made his way over to us. Everyone else quickly left the room to give us some privacy.

Your POV.

I couldn't believe it...Melissa got rid of them...Only for a few more hours...but still, that was better than nothing. After what felt like forever, I pulled away from Melissa and wiped my eyes. "I'm...Sorry...that was unprofessional...please don't fire me..."

Melissa put her hands on my shoulder and smiled at me gently. "It's okay honey, you're not going to get fired...are you okay?"

I wanted to lie, but looking into her eyes I just couldn't...I looked at Chris who smiled back, I felt safe with them...I felt like I was home...

"I hate being at home..." I quickly sat down and Melissa and Chris sat on either side of me. Chris gently wrapped an arm around my shoulder and turned to me. "How come? You don't have to tell us if you don't want to...and I know you've only known us for a few hours...but we care about you."

I smiled...seriously, why couldn't they be my parents? I sighed. "They're my adoptive parents...I haven't had the best life...since as long as I can remember, they've always reminded me that I was adoptive...that I wasn't wanted...that even my birth parents didn't want me...and my adoptive parents started to beat me...sometimes they would starve me...and I'd lie in bed and dream that my real parents would come and safe me...but they never did...they didn't want me..."

I looked at Melissa and could see tears in her eyes. "Honey...they had good reason for giving you up..."

I couldn't help but scoff. "Good reason? They left me...they left me alone...they sent me away...how could they do that?!"

Chris laughed I looked over at him. "Sorry kid, but you do realise you just quoted a Supergirl episode right?"

I shook my head laughing. Melissa took my hand. "I'm so sorry..." I looked at her confused. "Why are you sorry, you have nothing to be sorry for."

I watched as tears fell from Melissa's eyes. Chris sighed, gaining my attention. "Yes we do Y/n, we should never have gave you up..."

I stood up quickly. "Wait...no...it can't be...you guys are my parents?!" They both nodded. Melissa stood up and took a step towards me. "Yes...when we decided adoption would be best, we met with a lot of couples...and you're parents seemed like the best fit...obviously we were wrong..."

I rolled my arms. "No shit...what did I do?! What was so wrong with me that you had to give me up?!"

Chris sighed and went to stand next to Melissa. "Nothing Y/n, we didn't want to give you up...we were so young...we wanted to keep you...but we had no way to look after you...and all we wanted was for you to have your best chance."

I couldn't help but scoff again. "My best chance? My best chance would have been with you! Not those monsters!"

Melissa gently took my hand in hers. "We know...not a day went by that we didn't think about you...didn't wonder how you were doing...we always thought about you on birthdays, Christmases, mother's and father's day...we always wondered who you would look like...turns out you look like me."

I couldn't help smile. "Yeah all my friends at school say I look like you..." I sighed. "I don't wanna go back to them..."

Chris smiled. "You don't have to..."

"What are you on about? You two have no rights to me anymore."

Melissa sighed. "True but when we take your adoptive parents to court, we can apply to foster you or even adopt you ourselves."

I gasped. "You would do that?"

Melissa pulled me into a hug. "Of course we would...nobody deserves to be treated like that...not by the people who are supposed to love them...we should never have let you go...and we will never let you go again...not without a fight...."

Hope this is okay!
