Chapter 38: There Are No Such People Called Saviours....

You sat down on the bed, still sobbing from the incident three hours ago. " Levi....'' You placed your face in the palm of your soft hands, sobbing uncontrollably. Two sets of knocks came upon your door. Slowly, you lift your hands off your face and look towards the door. '' .... Come in....'' The wooden door is slowly opened, revealing Erwin with a regretful expression sprawled out on his face. You quickly stood up and ran over to him. You latched both of your hands onto his uniform tightly. With tear-stained cheeks, you looked up at Erwin. " What did they say...." Erwin unlatched your hands from his uniform and gave them a firm squeeze. " ( Your name).... I'm sorry. Levi is being executed tomorrow at high noon..." You widened your eyes as tears started to spill out of them just like three hours ago. You can hear your own heart shattering into a million pieces as those words were spoken from Erwin. You dropped to your knees onto the floor and started to sob even more. Erwin tried to calm you down, however, you just kept on pushing him away from you. After three more attempts to calm you down, Erwin decided that it was better for you to be alone at this time and left your room. For most of the night, you sobbed endlessly until you fell asleep on the floor.

Morning came, however, you didn't wake up because of the lack of sleep you had over the night. Therefore, you slept until the afternoon, 30 minutes away from Levi's execution. Shifting in bed, you woke up with your hair messy and tears in stream marks on your cheeks. You gazed out the window  and widened your eyes as soon as you realized that it was high noon. Quickly, you changed into your clothes which was a white dress and some slippers. Then you ran up to the door, hoping that it was unlocked. You jiggled the doorknob and was grateful when it opened wide for you. You ran out of the dorm and hurried to the execution grounds, which was in the middle of town square.

As you arrived at the execution grounds, you found it difficult to see Levi due to the large amounts of people waiting to see ' Humanities Strongest Solider' be executed. Finally, you saw Levi once you pushed your way to the front of the crowd. You looked up at the wooden stand and started to sob again. Levi was knelt down on the wooden stand with his head positioned on a tree stump, his arms tied behind his back, and his eyes gazing downwards. " Levi!" You cried out. Levi broke his gaze at the ground and looked right at you. You continued to sob even more once Levi did a gesture that you would soon miss too much of to let go. Levi smiled softly and mouthed the words ' l love you' to you before the royal executioner held his large axe in the air and swung it down low swiftly. Before you could even comprehend the situation, a head rolled to the wooden step on the stand and you started to cry out Levi's name again. " LEVI!!"
