Chapter 24: Love Or Hatred?

" Uhhh..." You muttered out as you sat up on the bed. Suddenly, last's night's argument sprang back into your head. " Why?" Was you could ask yourself. Placing both hands on your face, you started to sob quietly. However, the session did not last long due to loud banging on your door.

* Knock* * Knock* * Knock*

" Yes?" You hoarsely yelled. " Cadet (Your name), Commander Erwin and Squad Leader Hanji request your presence with them in their office. Please hurry." With that statement being said, the sound of boots clanking on the ground started to get distant. [ What is the matter now?] Wiping the excess tears away, you stood up and walked out the door. After all, you did sleep in your uniform due to the incident.

Quietly, you stood in front of the wooden bark door. Raising your fist in the air, you precisely knocked once.

* Knock*

" Come in." A deep monotone voice spoke out. Gripping onto the cold, metal knob you slowly turned it clock-wise. Each step felt heavy and loosely when on the ground. " Cadet ( Your name), we are glad that you could make it." Erwin spoke calmly. You nodded and headed towards a wooden chair. " Wait! You do not need to sit down because after we are done speaking, you immediately have to pack." Hanji spoke out calmly. " Pack?" Both Erwin and Hanji sighed. " I know this is too early..." Erwin started off softly while placing his right hand under his chin. " However, we have spotted the female titan again in the Evergreen Forest. Therefore, we need all Cadet's of every regiment in order to capture the monstrosity." You widened your eyes and realized that you had forgotten to tell Erwin and Hanji about who was in the female titan. Annie Leohardnt. " Erwin, Hanji, there is someone in the titan controlling every movement it makes." " Who?!" They both yelled. Before a single word could escape your mouth, a Cadet busted through the door. " Commander Erwin! The female titan has been spotted again and is exterminating all of our recruitment's!" The sound of fists slamming on the table impacted the room. " Damn it! Send in all of the reinforcements and the harpoons! We have to catch the damn thing! Get three horses ready on the front line. Now!" Erwin commanded. Frantically, the Cadet saluted. " Y-Yes, Commander Erwin!" Once the Cadet left, Erwin stood up and speed walked towards the door. " (Your name), once we reach the Evergreen Forest... please refrain from transforming."

Quickly, you walked over to your stallion. Hanji sat upon her horse with a smirk carved on her face. " Why are you smiling?" You questioned. " I'm just excited about the mission! Aren't you?'' You rolled your eyes at Hanji's remark and galloped into the forest. " Keep going straight!" Hanji yelled. You nodded and hurried into the forest. As both of you galloped further in, you could feel the vibrations emitting from the ground. You looked up and saw the titan killing Cadet's left and right while running forward. The sight disgusted you and made you furious. Quickly, you held the reins back and halted the horse to a stop. You leaped off the animal and zip lined to a tree to your right. " (Your name)! What are you doing?" Hanji yelled. You ignored her and headed towards Annie at full speed. As you ran further, the screams of pure agony could be heard. " Stop!" You heard a familiar voice scream. [ It can't be.] Although it was. The voice came from Levi Rivialle. You looked further ahead and saw Levi snatch Mikasa away from the female titan's grip. However, as Levi did his action, you could see that he has twisted his ankle from it. His face twisted into both pain and frustration. Although, he did make it out without any other problems. At least you thought so...

The titan opened it's mouth and was heading towards Levi's way. [ No!] You yelled to yourself. Ignoring the warning that Erwin gave you earlier, you transformed into a ghoul. You moved swiftly from tree to tree. When you had gotten close enough to Annie, you were in a tight spot. [ She's moving too fast. By the time I transform, it would already be too late.] Although, the thought did not go on for long because Annie's mouth was coming closer to Levi. " Levi!" Without any hesitation, you pushed his body away to the side and replaced the position with yours. You smiled. [ I guess I do still love him...] That was your final thought before blood splattered everywhere and a stinging pain dawned upon your abdomen. " (Your name)!" Levi yelled. Your body went limp and fell off of Annie's mouth. Although Annie bit into your body, she failed to rip it in half.

Roughly, you landed on the dirty ground. You looked down at your abdomen. Blood was rushing out and by the time help arrives, you would be already gone due to blood loss. Your vision was fading and your heart beat was slowing down each second. You heard a zip like noise coming from behind you. You lifted your head and saw Levi standing there, motionless. " (Your name)." Levi muttered out. You couldn't say anything because every time you would attempt to, you would cough up glorious amounts of deep, crimson blood.

" Why, (Your name)? You could have let me die." Levi held onto your hand, even though it was soaked with blood. Weakly, you placed your pale hand against his left cheek. " Because... I still love you." Levi widened his eyes, then softened his gaze. Suddenly, your hand went limp then landed on your chest. The world around you had disappeared and the only thing surrounding was pure darkness.

" (Your name)? (Your name)!" Levi yelled. The attempts were futile and useless. Quickly, Levi clamped onto your pale hands hoping that you were still alive. Hope was his last chance of sanity.
