Chapter 37: Is This Really How It All Ends?

Levi's Point Of View:

I hung my head down low as l was dragged by Erwin towards the court room. My wrists heavily restraint against the metal shackles. The sound of metal clanking resonates down the desolate hallways. I keep my gaze down to the ground. Although l don't show on my face, my heart is shattered beyond repair. ( Your name) is pregnant, and l won't even be there when she gives birth to our child. l clench my fists tightly in frustration. As Erwin continues to drag me towards the court room, my eyes grow heavier towards the ground. After a few minutes, the sound of a door creaking open broke my gaze off the floor and up towards the door. I squinted my eyes due to the intense sunlight coming from the windows of the courtroom. After a while, my eyes adjusted to the light and l was dragged inside. Erwin brought me to the metal shaft in the middle of the courtroom. He placed me onto the metal shaft and stood beside the rest of the jury. My heart keep shattering each second, making my head weary. '' Corporal Levi Rivialle.'' Slowly, l look up at the old judge, not responding back. '' Why do you take the place of Cadet ( Last name).'' I look down at the ground, remaining silent. Suddenly, a great force of impact comes flying in my face, causing my head to go up and then come back down to the ground. '' The judge asked you a question! You respect him and answer back.'' Groans in irritation once l recognize that voice. Mike Zacharias.... The dumbass that sniffs everything. I remain silent and frozen in my place. Mike lifts my head up by my hair and continues to knee me in the face. After a few knees in the face, he lowers my face back down to the ground, stepping on my head. Groans in frustration. '' I will ask you again Corporal Levi. Why did you take the place of Cadet ( Last name).'' Mike lifts his foot off my head and l look up at the judge. ''.... Because l know what happens at the third trial and l'm not letting her face that kind of fate. Especially now that l know she's pregnant.'' The judge widens his eyes and stands up from his stance. His full of fiery and anger. '' You impregnated a Cadet?! Not mention one that can transform into a ghoul?! Are you insane Corporal?!'' I widen my eyes and look at him with anger filling in my eyes. '' I don't give a s**t what she is! I love her and l'm not going to let any of you touch her!'' The judge pinches the bridge of his nose in irritation then starts to calm down. Afterwards, he sits back down in his seat and looks down at me. '' Corporal Levi.... not only have you broke section 8, paragraph 5 in the handbook of the Great Walls of Goddesses: Maria, Rose, and Sina.... But you have also broke the ancient rule of having a child with one of... them. Therefore.... I sentence Corporal Levi Rivaille.... execution in the third degree. Death by decapitation by the royal executioner.''

Most people in the courtroom gasped due to shock, however, some cheered because they thought that it was what l deserved for marrying ( Your name). The judge ordered silence in the courtroom. Almost immediately, the courtroom went fro cheering and gasps, to pure silence in anticipation. I look at the old man in his eyes through his glasses. '' Execution will be tomorrow at high noon. Case dismissed.'' The judge slams his gallant onto the tiny pied on his stand and everyone started to gossip around me. Erwin walked up to me, released me from the metal shackles, helped me up, and placed his hand on my shoulder. '' ... I'll be the one telling ( Your name) this... I'll try to restrain her back if she tries anything.'' Erwin sighs. '' You were a great man Levi... and you would've been a great father too...'' Erwin gave me one last pat before leaving me alone in the courtroom with everyone else. I stare down at my hands, clenching them tightly. I slowly reach into my breast pocket and get out my own silver band with (Your name) engraved on it. I slip it on my ring finger and look at it. At least l'll die a married man....
