Chapter 5: To Be Sorrowful Or Not♥♡

As everyone was eating, you were just sitting in your seat quietly. You couldn't handle being silent anymore. Therefore, you stood up from your seat and excused yourself from the table. Levi asked you what was wrong and you told him that you weren't hungry and that you would talk to him later in the evening. You asked one of the servants where your room for tonight would be.''Down the hallway and near the corridor.'' ''Thank you very much.'' The servant bowed and continued on what he was doing before. As you were walking down the hallway and was nearing the corridor, you could hear hushed whispers. You slowly approached the distant voices, you didn't want them to run off.''Well?'' A voice said in a very low whisper.''Fine. I love you, Petra.''「Petra? Why is she here? More importantly, who has just confessed to her?」You peered around the corridor to see who was with Petra. You couldn't believe what you were seeing. The person with Petra was...Levi. Levi pulled Petra's waist closer to him and kissed her. At that moment, you felt no sorrow, no guilt. You just felt the same. Softly, you laughed to yourself.「I guess, the decision is made. I'll go tell the King tomorrow morning. 」Although you felt no sorrow, you couldn't help, but, think to yourself and ask the same question over and over again in your mind. Why couldn't you react to this situation? With a smile, still plastered on your face, you walked by them.''(Your name)? How long were you standing there?'' Levi asked concerningly. You didn't respond, instead, you continued walking at a faster pace.''(Your name)! Come back here!'' Now, you were sprinting down the corridor. You finally reached your room and quickly opened and closed your bedroom doors. A minute later, loud banging was heard on the other side of the door.''(Your name)! Please, open the door! It's a misunderstanding! Please!'' You heard Levi plead. Suddenly, you started to laugh uncontrollably.''I already understand, Levi. However, I'm not sad about it. In fact, I find the situation humorous. I knew I couldn't trust anybody from the beginning. I told myself numerous times to, at least, trust one person.'' You explained while still laughing. The loud banging stopped and your laughing followed behind shortly with it.''In the morning, come talk to me.'' Then, you heard footsteps walking away.「I can't talk to him. I have too much on my mind. I'll just write my decision on paper and leave it on my bed. However, my decision isn't one of the choices the King has given to me. No, instead, it's a choice I have decided upon myself. I am fed up with people always using me. Therefore, I'm going to join neither of the military branches. From now on, I'll defeat the titans by myself.」You walked up to the desk and got out a piece of paper and a feather pen.

'Dear everyone and the King,

I have decided to defeat the titans by myself. I will join neither the Scouting, nor, the Military Regiment. Please, do not worry about my well-being. I will be fine and survive. Farewell.

-(Your name).'

The letter was short, however, understandable. You grabbed everything you needed, 3-D maneuver gear, your cape, and a spare change of clothes. You walked to your window and opened it. The evening wind blowing through your hair, felt luxurious. As you put one foot up the windowsill, you turned back to look at your room. Then, you quickly turned back around. It was too late, you made your final decision. Before, you could regret the decision, you jumped out of the window and rolled out onto the ground.「That hurt! Now, I just have to run away from this place. I can't take my stallion because it would make too much noise. Therefore, I'll just run to the nearest house. Goodbye everyone.」You thought as you sprinted out of the castle grounds and into the abandoned forest.

「There must be a house nearby somewhere. I have to hurry before sunrise, when titans are more active.」You stopped at a secluded spot in the forest and leaned your arm on a tree to support yourself. You looked around at your surroundings. Until, you finally spotted a small house not far from where your standing.''Finally, somewhere to rest for the night. Hopefully, they have food.'' You told yourself. After you caught your breathe, you sprinted towards the structure full-speed. You stopped and walked to the front door and knocked.''Hello? Is anybody here?'' No response came back. Laying your hand on the doorknob, you gently turned the knob clock-wise. Surprisingly, the door was not locked.''Hello? I'm not an intruder, I just need supplies.'' Still, no response back. You checked every room of the house and indeed, there were no residents in the area. You walked over to the closet and slid the door open. The only piece of cloth in there was kimono. You held the kimono in front of your face and stared at it. The length of the kimono was up to your knees, and the sleeves were longer than your arms.「This would be perfect to disguise myself during my expeditions inside Wall Maria. However, should I really take this? This is someone's property.」When you tried to fold the kimono, something white fell out.''What's this?'' You asked yourself as you picked up the piece of paper.

'To whom it may concern,

I do not have a lot of time to explain, however, whoever found this kimono, please take care of it. This piece of fabric is very important to me. By the time you read this, I might be dead or have escaped the devastating scenario outside. Thank you.

The signature was covered in dried blood.''I assume the owner must have died while writing the letter. Whoever it was, they want me to take care of the kimono. I will accept the offer.'' You quickly changed out of your filthy uniform, and into the rose-patterned kimono. The roses were painted with pink and red colors, while the rest of the kimono was a deep purple. All the mirrors in the house were shattered, therefore, you looked at your reflection through the kitchen window.''This looks wonderful. Now, to hide my identity...Ah! I know, I'll use my handkerchief to cover up the bottom of my face.'' As you covered your face, you saw bandage tape on the kitchen table.''I can use this to hide my bare skin that isn't covered with my kimono. A few minutes later, you were finished and you looked at the window.''Ah! I almost forgot my cape! Good thing it doesn't have the Scout sign on the back of it. Well, I was supposed to receive an original one, however, they couldn't get one in time.'' You were finally complete with the appropriate wardrobe and walked up stairs to go to sleep. As you lied on the dusty bed, you kept on thinking about tomorrow.''All I have to do is pretend that I'm still in the Scouting Regiment, and everything will be fine. I'll still be capable of eliminating titans. I was alone before in the Scout's, the situation hasn't changed. Except, that if I am in the hands of a titan, there won't be anybody to save me. However, I will never let that happen.'' As you said the last part of your sentence, you thought of Levi. Or Corporal Levi. You were no longer associated with him anymore, therefore, you had to say his name in a formal manner to keep your head straight. Not a moment longer, you started to drift away in slumber.

Three days have past by quickly. You were handling yourself very well. On the first day you arrived in Wall Maria, you were disguised very well that the Garrison Regiment let you pass through the gates. As you were walking through the abandoned streets, you could feel very large vibrations coming from the ground. You looked up to see a 5 meter titan coming towards you. Swiftly, you anchored yourself unto it's neck and sliced the nape. You jumped off the Titan's back before it could collapse to the ground.''Thank you.'' Quickly, you turned around. It was a mother and her daughter that had startled you.''Your welcome. Both of you should head to Wall Rose for safety.'' ''We were just on our way, until, that thing started chasing us.  We give our gratitude to the Scouting Regiment.'' The mother said while bowing. Her daughter followed.''I'm not apart of the Scouting Regiment. I'm doing this on my free will.'' ''Then I give you my greatest gratitude, as well.''You bowed.''Thank you. Now, hurry to Wall Rose.'' The mother agreed, held her daughter's hand, and took off. Both waved at you and you waved back at them.「Hopefully, they make it safely to Wall Rose.」You thought to yourself as you continued walking down the streets.''Everybody, spread out and continue searching! We will do this everyday, until, she is found. Hurry up!'' You recognized that voice. You walked, quietly, to the corner of an abandoned store. You peered over to see what was going on.「Levi?! Oulo, Petra, Eren, and Mikasa?! What are they doing?」A voice stopped your train of thought.''Corporal. We have been doing the exact thing over again and again. May we please give up? It's been three days.'' You heard Eren whine. Before Corporal Levi could retort at Eren, you stepped on rubble which made Corporal Levi immediately snap his head towards you. ''Who are you?! Show your face!'' Corporal Levi yelled at you.「Oh, no! What should I do? If I run away, they'll chase me no matter what. What would happen if I stay put? Only one way to find out...」Levi walked straight up to you and hovered his face over yours.''What's your name, brat?'' Levi asked while crossing his arms.
