Chapter 33: Madness Comes In Various Forms

You and Levi took a carriage to the Garrison Regiment headquarters near Wall Rose. " We've arrived!" The horsemen announced. Both yourself and Levi exited the carriage and walked towards the headquarters. From where you were standing, you could see a group of soldiers in a circle formation. " Corporal Levi!" Commander Pixis called out. Levi saluted, you soon followed his lead. " At ease." Both Levi and yourself lied your arms back to your side. Commander Pixis stopped and looked up at you. " Who are you?" Levi jabbed you on the dis with his elbow. " C-Cadet... Takenaka... Cadet Hiro Takenaka, sir." " Well, Cadet Takenaka, and Corporal Levi. Let us begin our discussion." " Yes sir!" You declared.

A few hours went by with you just sitting in your chair, doing nothing while Levi did most of the talking. " We have to secure the rim of Wall Rose by the defense of cannons. And by the entrance, we need to set up traps." Commander Pixis proposed. " That'll be useless. We did the exact same defense plan three months ago and the Colossal Titan appeared yet again. Blowing away all our defenses." Levi reasoned. " Corporal Levi. There are dumbfounded creatures who thrive on destruction and chaos. Only one one of them, as far as I know, has intelligence and a goal. Right now, the female titan is our main focus right now." [ Now's my chance!] " Commander Pixis!" You yelled out while standing up from your seat. Everybody's mouth closed and looked at your figure. " Yes? Cadet Takenaka, do you have something to say?" " The female titan... definitely is no other titan we have faced in all the years we've been fighting. The only reason why the female titan has intelligence is because... there is someone else in it. The same case like Eren Jaeger's." " What?!" Everybody, except Commander Pixis and Levi, exclaimed. " Silence!" Commander Pixis ordered. The room went silent as requested. " Cadet Takenaka. Assuming there WAS a person controlling the titan, we wouldn't know who it is." " I know who it is." Who?" He asked urgently. " It's Annie Leohardnt. A girl from the Military Police." As you finished your sentence, a loud booming noise from outside was heard. " What the hell was that?" A Garrison Regiment solider asked.

Everybody walked up to the windows to see what the commotion was. Outside stood a familiar blonde female titan in the middle of town square. " Titan breach!" " Everybody, man your stations! Evacuate everybody within Wall Rose to Wall Sina! GO!" " Yes sir!" All the Garrison Regiment soldiers fled through the door, including Commander Pixis. You stood up and ran over to Levi. " Levi, we have to go! This is our chance!" " You can't go." " What." " You cannot go up against that... thing." You were growing frustrated with Levi. "... Why not?" " Because the same situation from last time will happen again! I promised ti keep you safe, and I intend to keep it. Now, stay here!" Levi walked to the doorway and left. You stood frozen in your spot, speechless. You walked to the door and tried the doorknob, however, it was locked. You were about to comply with his demand, until four heart-clenching words rang through your mind.

Do you forgive me?

You gripped your hair and knelled down on the ground. You were nearing your limit to insanity. " Please... stop..." Sanity was diminishing, madness replacing it.

You're lucky to have him.

" Why do you still torture me?"

Time stopped. You were finally past your limit. Madness took control over your body. You transformed into a ghoul, not on will. Since you were a male in human form, your kagune was stronger and larger then when you were a female. Although you had succumbed to insanity,, your mind was still sane... At least, it little bit was.
