A loud scream from the kitchen woke everyone in the entire house up with a startling fright.

"Charlotte!" Her mother yelled.

She groaned and turned her body in her bed, she was starting to drift back to sleep when another loud yell broke through the house.

"Get down here now!" She yelled again.

Charlotte stood up and walked down the stairs. Her hair was in a birds nest on top of her head and her entire body ached. She yawned as she entered the kitchen.

Her mother was stood next to the island, all of the bottles from the night prior were now lined up on the counter. Her mother's eyes were filled with rage.

"What the hell is this?" She yelled.

The boys were all sat on the sofas, listening in as their sleep was disturbed.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Charlotte crossed her arms over her chest, yawning.

"You come back here after four years and you bring this shit back? I am not having this, you are going back next week."

"Am I shit?" She laughed unamused.

"What did you just say to me?"

"You really think you can send me back to Paris?" She scoffed. "You do realise I have a job? I have my own income, I could buy this house right now if I wanted to."

"You don't even work. You just stand there, half naked with men. You think that is work?"

"Maybe it isn't ideal for you, but you know what wasn't ideal for me? Having to sit in the hospital so many times, wondering whether you were going to come and visit me, wondering whether you had even told Liam. He was my best friend, you stole that, just like you do with everything else." Tears had formed in her eyes.

Liam sat, listening intently on what was being said.

"You think I wanted to be the one to tell him that?" She pointed her finger at her own chest.

"He deserved to know. You didn't tell him anything. All those times I was in the hospital, you never visited me once. I didn't even get a text message."

"You being in the hospital was your own fault, not mine, with your drugs and you alcohol." She spat through clenched teeth.

"I am not taking your bullshit right now, I'm going to go upstairs, get ready and go to school. Maybe when I come home, you will have disappeared like always, you'll be with another one of your men. Sorry to let your secret slip."

Charlotte wiped at her eyes with the sleeves of her jumper and went upstairs. She found a simple outfit to wear: baggy jeans and a tube top, she threw on a jacket and her shoes.

She took another two pills and then stuffed the container into her bag. She grabbed her phone and her house keys and put them in too.

She walked downstairs to see that Liam's friends had all left and he was stood around the island drinking a glass of water.

Charlotte moved passed him and took out a pack of crisps from the cupboard.

"What were you talking about? With mom before?" Liam asked.

She sighed and poured the small pieces of broken crisps into her mouth. "I.. can we talk about it later, please?"

"Yeah." He sighed.

"Would you like a lift to school?"

"You drive?"

"Motorbike. It was dropped off last night, I had it deported like a week ago."
