Charlotte
After I had changed, I made my way to the car park where I had left my bike.
I pulled my hair into a low ponytail as I knew I'd be picking up Amy. I put my helmet on and sat on the bike, I put the key in and turned the ignition, I revved the handles and set off out of the school grounds and onto the main road.
I let my brain wander during my ride.
I was scared. I had been shot multiple times by some random person, I had no idea who he could be and I wasn't close enough to get a scent on him. I knew that he was out there somewhere, probably aware that I was still alive.
I pulled up outside the house that the girls shared and I went up to the door. Amy already knew I was coming as I had messaged her whilst I was getting changed.
I knocked on the door and she answered. She had a bike helmet in her hands, one I had left there in case of days like this.
She was wearing black jeans and a grey hoodie, I had told her not to dress up because there was no point, it was a small gathering with my friends.
"Hey." I said as she pulled her coat on and closed the door.
"Hi. Where to first?" She asked as we made our way to the bike.
I sat on the front and waited for her to put her helmet on before she got on too. She wrapped her hands around my waist. "We need alcohol." I said.
"So we need Nick?"
"Mhm."
We set off down the road.
Nick was Amy's newest 'boyfriend', they had only known each other since she moved to Beaconhills and I'm 99% sure that she is only dating him for access. He's 22, illegal, very illegal, but he gets her into nightclubs and alcohol.
He lives pretty far out of the way, as in, an hour away, in a very rough neighbourhood but he was our only option.
We made it to the street and I was immediately disgusted, graffiti sat all over the walls, litter crowded the streets and most of the buildings looked run down. They either had wooden plates covering the windows or bullet holes through the glass.
There was a couple arguing outside one of the houses and a group of children ran across the road, neatly getting run over by a car.
"Which house does this guy live in?" I said.
"The one on the end." She said.
I looked at the house she was talking about and my mouth almost dropped.
The house had been burned which was only obvious by the charcoal marks on the bricks. There was one window and it had two bullet holes through it. There was no door, only a dirty sheet that looked like a shower curtain.
We parked up outside and took off our helmets, we carried them with us so that they didn't get stolen.
"What's the chances that my bike gets robbed before we come back out?" I asked as we walked up to the house.
She breathed out a laugh as she moved the sheet out of the way as we made our way inside. I followed after her as she lead me through the hallway.
The entire house smelt of weed as wall paper was peeling from the walls. Clutter filled the house and stains were everywhere.
"Nick?" She called out.
"venons-nous d'entrer dans une tanière de drogue?" I asked. Did we just enter a drug den?
